Chapter Text
You felt it in your bones that it wasn’t right where you were. You couldn’t sense them. You couldn’t sense a single demon where you were. And the number of people was overwhelming. Their scents, mixed with pollution. It was irritating. And they looked… different too. One person even looked at you like you were crazy for wearing your uniform. But you couldn’t even sense another slayer. No one you knew was there, no demons-
A shrill scream made you startle. “My purse! He took my purse!” They yelled out, and people moved out of the way after noticing others being shoved by the offender. You narrowed your eyes at the scene. No police? No one was going to stop them? And were those tusks? You were about to run towards them, when you saw branches trap them. It almost made you do a double take.
“Illegal use of abilities during rush hour, as well as robbery? You’re pure evil.”
That did make you do a double take. ‘Pure evil’? This… man never heard of Muzan then. To be fair though, individuals not apart of the Demon Slayer Corps wouldn’t know of the Demon King. Or even demons unless they themselves were attacked and saved by a Demon Slayer. But you’d never heard someone say something so stupid. Pure evil… I don’t think he’s ever seen anything that’s truly pure evil. The woman was grateful and thanked him as people oohed and aahed at the tree man. You quickly left the area. Not too keen in getting the attention of someone who worked with the police. If they noticed your weapons, well you weren’t too sure about being saved by Oyakata-sama this time. It felt too advanced. Too much for you to even think about being comfortable. And a feeling of unease was brewing in your bones. People kept looking at you strangely, but most of them would shrug it off, muttering about cosplayers. You bit your lip, struggling to breath for a moment. The stress was starting to get to you. You were in an unfamiliar area, no help nearby and of course you you couldn’t sense anything that felt normal to you either. What am I going to do? You thought, tears coming to your eyes. I won’t get lucky again. Oniisan isn’t here this time. You took a breath. You couldn’t let it get to you. You had to move forward. And if there were no demons here, all the better. No one here was in danger. But if that bit ever changed then you knew how to take them out. The people here would be safe if the demon problem ever came here. But just in case. You would make sure of it.

You ended up being taken in by a woman with green hair and kind green eyes. She introduced you to her son. And he was… very cute looking, and incredibly smart. His combat thought process was amazing, to a terrifying degree. He could honestly be able to take down some of the demons you yourself had taken down if he had the proper training for it.
“Does your quirk have to do with speed?” He asked quietly one night. You squinted at him.
“Why is this important?”
“You just move so fast! And I don’t understand it, if your quirk doesn’t have to do with speed then I want to know what it is! Its just so cool!”
You gave him a look. His eyes were so earnest with excitement shining in them, mixed with a slight pleading look. He looked… cute. And you felt it in your bones that he was trustworthy. A faint wispy spirit was following him, giving him a fond look. Like he wasn’t all there. (It was another thing about this world that confused you. Some people were followed by these beings just like at home but some people would only have wisps of them like they were only partially there.) “I just breath in a special way, nothing more. Honestly, I don’t understand why quirks are so special, Midoriya-kun.” You finally said.
“Quirks are just so cool! I mean, they’re a special power that you have that can help save people! You could be a hero!”
That got your attention, you noticed of course that some heroes had weapons (although it’d usually be their quirk) and they could use them whenever the situation called for it. If you became a hero in this world, if needed you could use your blades if a demon came here the way you did. As if Midoriya could read your mind, he got an excited glint in his eyes. But if he liked heroes so much then- “Why not be a hero too?” You asked. The excited glint disappeared, he almost curled in on himself at the question, and a fierce feeling of protectiveness came over you.
“… I want to. But I don’t think I’ll ever be able to.”
“Why not?” You asked, you didn’t like the change in his demeanor, the subdued look in his eyes. Worry bloomed in your chest. It startled you a little but you weren’t focused on it at the moment. “Why can’t you be a hero?”
“I don’t have a quirk.” Was his only curt response, like he was waiting for you to change your demeanor and be angry at him. And didn’t that feeling make you want to scream. Who dared to make my brother fear something?
“Bullshit. Who told you that?” You almost snarled that out. It made him look at you again in shock. “Who told you that you couldn’t be a hero without a quirk? With a mind like yours? The ability to analyze like you do? You could probably even take down a current hero with how you think.”
He still looked at you shocked. No one… not even his mom said anything like that to him before. All he heard was that he was creepy for how he constantly analyzed heroes.
“If anyone tells you that you can’t be a hero, tell them that they can fuck right off.” You poked him, pointing right at his heart, looking right into his eyes. “You are smart Midoriya-kun. You analyze quirks crazy fast and think about counters for everything that the heroes are fighting against on the news.”
He felt his face get wet. Sudden tears flowing down his face. The sheer confidence in your voice about him. About him being a hero. Your personality didn’t change after he told you he was quirkless. You didn’t get angry at him. You got angry at the fact someone told him he couldn’t be a hero. “I-” he started to choke out, but it didn’t matter as you kept talking.
“Maybe you can’t fight but that doesn’t matter that can be worked on even now. I can help you with that.” You looked at Midoriya. No. You looked at Izuku. “You want to be a hero, I’ll help you with fighting. Because you can be a hero.”
He was gaping at you, shock written so clearly on his face. It made you remember them.
“You look scrawny though. We gotta bulk you up.” His shock changed to mock offence at your statement. “Basic training first. Then we’ll worry about the other stuff.”
You’d teach him how to fight, and he gave you a promise that he’d teach you all the material you needed to know in order to become a hero right next to him. And as far as you could tell he was already formulating a plan on teaching you everything that you’d missed. A win-win situation. As much as it could be at least. A part of you would continue to yearn to go back home to your brother and his wives. But you’d already felt it. You couldn’t go back home. You had a baby brother to take care of here.
╔══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══╗
After that, you began seeing Izuku as your younger brother (you wondered if this was how it felt for Uzui when you came into his life). Izuku was scrawny, but he moved fast. He could probably move faster if you taught him. A breathing style would help him. He could fit for it. But you shouldn’t teach an outsider… you thought on it for a moment. Things… can change. There aren’t demons but… it would never hurt to… teach him a breathing style. They didn’t exist. You made a decision.
“Izuku, how about I teach you something new?” You said looking into the green eyes of your newest sibling. He stopped the furious writing he was doing from watching the news about a recent hero fight. And he gave you a blinding smile.
“Yes please!”
╔══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══╗
Izuku took on fire breathing like a charm. To be fair, he had absolutely no clue what you were teaching him so technically you weren’t breaking any rules with an outsider knowing anything. He accepted you explanation of meditation helping him achieve a more sound mind to move easier. You felt like you were lying to him, but would he even believe you if you said if was something to help slay a demon? Demons that didn’t exist in this world?
It didn’t matter, but fire breathing was a good choice of breathing style for him. You could’ve taught him sound breathing, but that brought up a feeling of wrongness he wasn’t a replacement. He was Izuku, not Uzui. He wasn’t Kyojuro either, but he had the same passion. He would probably feel honored that you thought someone close to you would thrive on his families breathing style. You could feel it in your bones. Uzui would probably just be happy you felt close to another person on the same level as you had always seen him.
I don’t know if you’d call him your baby brother Uzui. But… he’s very kind, and open. You thought, suddenly you felt like you wanted to cry. But you couldn’t. I miss you Nii-san. You took a shuttering calming breath, you couldn’t cry. I miss you Makio, Suma, and Hinatsuru. I miss you all so much Nii-san. How am I gonna be okay with never seeing you all again? You heard the wind blowing outside. Uzui wouldn’t answer you. He never could again.

The days counting down your ability to physically be present in school were overwhelming. Midoriya-san was still welcoming and kind. She didn’t want you being alone anymore. Not since you very enthusiastically began watching over Izuku. Not when she started seeing her baby boy smiling so widely at home again. You were officially unofficially her child now. And she’d be damned if she couldn’t afford for you to go to a good school. Her hours got longer, but she’d always find some age old currency. She wouldn’t ask where it came from, she knew it was you even if it confused her how you had it. And in todays times it was worth so much more than you were used to.
You didn’t have much money left to give to Midoriya Inko. But you eased her burden in any way you could. She had money set aside for U.A. for both you and Izuku now. In her heart, it was the very least she could do. You were so obviously supporting her son. She shouldn’t have given up so easily when he got his diagnosis. Maybe if she didn’t she could see that free smile he gives more often. Baby steps. She’d start with making sure he knew she would support you both, and making sure he knew she should’ve always supported him. Because, with Izukus heroic spirit, he wouldn’t want you left behind. And he needed to know what she should’ve always been doing. She also felt better with the thought of you being with him too. She took a calming breath at the thought of her baby becoming a hero. Heros got hurt. Her baby could get hurt. But- she thought But Izuku had you. And you weren’t letting her son be discouraged. So she pushed aside any negative thought she had surrounding the thought of her son getting hurt becoming a hero. She couldn’t fail her baby again. And she wouldn’t.

You miraculously finished all the schoolwork you needed to catch up with. You passed with flying colours, surprising everyone considering you 'were trapped in a cult’ most of your life. You took whatever excuse you could that would work in this world. You played it off well. Besides you did have some minor training for it. Just in case you ever ran into Upper Moon Twos little cult. This could be considered your undercover mission. Even if deep down you knew you wouldn’t be able to go back home. You could keep the people in this world safe. You just needed to have a few qualifications, a hero license and the prerequisite of going to school to be able to get the hero license. Right now though, you were watching the news. It was much easier to keep up with the information of this world with their ability to spread information quickly. And you were going to take all the advantages you could get from this world. And of course, you were officially under the care of Midoriya Inko. She did surprise you with all the paperwork filled out and submitted. It warmed your heart how she let you into her and her sons life so happily. It made you feel loved. Made you have a vague feeling of sadness with the thought of your own mother. You were sitting in the living room, watching the news, when it suddenly changed to something happening in that moment. It focused on someone being suffocated by moving sludge as explosions were going off. You hissed in sympathy, he was obviously trying to escape himself but failing. And no one was helping him. You could see at least 4 other heroes just standing on the sidelines. It made your blood boil a little. People telling my little brother he can’t be a hero when I’m sure he could find some way to help this kid out better than the ones there. You took a sip of the water you had with you, and almost immediately spitting it out at what you saw., your heart almost stopping in fear. Because there was your brother, running head first into the flames and throwing his backpack at the eyes of the sludge and yanking at the sludge covering the captured boys nose and mouth. You felt a twinge of pride at his quick thinking because you were right thinking he’d figure something out damn it but it ended up attacking him too. You felt yourself get up and grab at your shoes to run right out the door to go save him because goddamnit those heros were just standing around while your little brother could get killed. When suddenly the number one hero was there yanking the two boys away from the sludge and punching the damn thing so hard it changed the weather. Okay so Izuku was so valid for his love of the number one hero. Rain started pouring and it began putting out the flames. The 4 heroes were still standing there. You finally calmly put on your shoes and opened the door. But on the inside you were furious. Your little brother could’ve died, that civilian could’ve died and there were at least 4 heroes that stood by and did nothing. But first, you needed to get Izuku. Second, probably yell at him or track down those heroes that stood around. Third, hug that moron for his heroic deed. And if you decided to track those heroes down, rage hell on them if you could.
╔══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══╗
Sometimes you’d follow him. And that was fine! You’d helped him so much with everything. Going so far as believing in him and teaching him meditation techniques. Even forcing him to do them outside of the meditation. He felt stronger, and his lungs felt great! And because of you he didn’t get thrown around by a villain that caught him one day after the worst day at school! Like his own body felt a change in the air and moved without him registering it. (You took more active measures making sure he didn’t slack with breathing, he had some bruising from it). The sludge villain tried using his body to escape and to be honest almost successfully caught him. He was struggling when he felt the sludge go in his mouth and nose and fill up his lungs. If not for All Might popping up he might’ve died. But he was saved by his favorite hero! Afterwards may not have been great, being told by his all time favorite hero that, no he couldn’t be a hero without a quirk and then being left on the rooftop. Then hearing the explosions and seeing Kachaan being held by the same sludge villain that caught him. He almost gave up being a hero because even though you supported him so happily, it was different after being told by All Might he couldn’t become a hero. But then he saw Kachaan. Being suffocated, the fear in his eyes. Kachaan was gonna die if someone didn’t save him. And in that moment, it didn’t matter that Izuku was told by him just earlier in the day he should jump off the roof. All that was running through his head as he ran forwards and threw his bag was Kachaans dying. Someone was dying and they needed help. Then being saved by All Might again, then… then being told “You can be a hero” by All Might. He changed his mind. Was told he inspired his hero into pushing forward past his limit because of his actions.
The aftermath of it all left him sobbing on the road, his hero looking after him, until you found him, furiously yelling his name with tears in your eyes. Grabbing him and holding him. Telling him you were just “grateful he was okay” and that you’d yell at him later. (You weren’t going to, he found out later, you were mostly just proud of him which almost caused another influx of tears that night).
It all led him to now. About a month into his training to be able to wield All Mights quirk. With you following closely behind to make sure he got to the beach safely. Midoriya Izuku was going to be a hero. Just like you told him when you came into his life.
╔══ ❀•°❀°•❀ ══╗
Your baby brother was different. He was more assertive than before about being a hero. And more tired (you weren’t a fair judge of tiredness though. Not with you staying up late 'just in case of a demon causing havoc’) And you knew that it was all because of that scarecrow of a man that Izuku began interacting with. You followed him to the trash beach, just watching him. Ready to hurt the man just in case Izuku was in danger with him. But, he was just… training him. And cleaning. Well… Community Service is something a good person would do. It all starts somewhere. If you knew anything, Midoriya Izuku was a good person. Smart, kind and now becoming ridiculously strong. You made eye contact with the man helping Izuku and gave him a nod. You hoped he knew you were more than thankful. To be fair the spirits following the man also reassured you. Because while Izuku may not be your blood relative, he was your family now. And you were more than grateful that someone was with you in helping him. And from what you could gather, he needed people on his side.
But also, that man better properly train your brother. Because if his bones blew up you just might kill the man for not preparing him better. Because if even ghosts were worried about his safety in reference to a quirk, he need to know.
