Hayasaka entered the room. ‘My lady? You need to get up.’
Kaguya rolled over in her bed. ‘It’s the weekend. I can afford to sleep in a little.’
‘But isn’t Shirogane meant to be coming over today? You need to be ready for when he gets here.’
Suddenly the previous day’s events came rushing back: she had mustered up the courage to ask the president to watch a movie over at her house.
There was only one couch in the living room, so they’d have no choice but to sit next to each other. Then she would put on a horror movie, a Halloween tradition. All she would need to do was wait for the right moment, feign her terror and then… turn to him for comfort. If he ended up getting scared instead and doing the same with her, then so much the better. It had all seemed so simple at the time.
Now that her mind was clear, she could see that the plan was full of holes. What if it turned out that the president didn’t like horror movies? What if he recoiled the moment she tried to move closer?! What if he didn’t even want to sit next to her in the first place?!
Kaguya pulled the sheets up over her head. ‘Do I have to?’
Kei rolled her eyes. ‘Yes, you have to go.’
Miyuki’s voice was muffled by his head in his hands. ‘Can’t you just call her on my behalf and tell her I’m sick or something?’
‘Nice try.’ Kei folded her arms. ‘You’re not getting out of this one.’
