The talk

Summary:

What if the boys think about revealing their relationship to the team.

Notes:

This book was amazing, but I'm missing some established relationship fluff. Just the boys being in love. Just them Hate-Loving each other.

Chapter 1: Hugging it out

Chapter Text

-"You're sure, you're ready?"

He's looking down at me, his brown eyes scanning my face. His left hand is intertwined with mine, the right is resting on my cheek, his thumb brushing it softly. I can only nod, anxiety knotting my throat. I try to smile, to reassure him. But I'm probably not doing a good job, because he drags me to his chest. Like he's trying to hug the anxiety out of me.

"We don't have to, it's okay, we're okay...We can do it later, or never. It's okay."

I bury my head in his chest, bathing in him. Like the most powerful anxiety meds, nothing matters anymore, just like that stopped the world from spiralling.

-"I know," my voice is muffled by the team's hoody he's wearing. One that we both know I'll be stealing later. "It's just…I'm scared."

He sighs and reinforces his hold. His head’s resting on mine, engulfing me. If anyone were to walk by they wouldn't have any doubt. The nature of our relationship is made clear by this moment of obvious intimacy.

Maybe that's what we should do. Just stop hiding around the team. It would be that easy. No awkward conversation. No answering too personal questions. No big reveal. No big deal. I mean, most of them have already made jokes about the both of us kissing. And there is also the "You have dimples" conversation where they were all present. He does have cute dimples, and a nice smile, that I want to kiss out off his pretty face so badly. C'mon back on track. So yeah, most of the team probably suspects we fancy each other. And Dorian knows, I opened myself up to him. He was okay with it, with us. More than okay, he was supportive. And he already knew, but he let me come to him on my terms. And he and Barbie made me feel so at ease. They acted as if nothing changed. Because nothing did, I am the same guy, I was already bi and knew it when I met them. Hell, I was hate-loving on the guy I'm currently dating for years when I join the team. And It wasn't a well-guarded secret. Maybe that is what our relationship should be, a secret, not-so-secret boyfriend. A secret, not-so-secret smoking hot, kind, funny, smart, hard-working boyfriend. Hopefully guarded by a team of jacked-up, bloodthirsty hockey players. I know my roommate, no my friends, will have our back. But what if that puts them in a tough spot with the rest of the team? Because, maybe their japes, aren't, and they're a bunch of homophobic assholes, and I'm the but of the joke.

-"Terzo, you're with me ?" His hand is running through my hair. My body jumps as my mind gets back to it. "Where did you go? Do me a quick run-through?"

-"Your hoody is soft. The team jokes all the time about us making out. Your dimples, how I want to kiss you senseless. Dorian is the best but what if he's the only one? I'm proud of who I am but what if they kick us out or don't allow us to play? How much I hate you."

-” Oh, baby. I hate you too." Does he drop a kiss on my hair. And I want to puck at how cute we are. Fanfic writers would have a field day.

-"Ok, that's enough unhinged queer love for today. We have the training to go to. Also Zero will have our head if we're late again." I relatively let go of him. If I could stay in his arm all day every day, life would be easier. We'll probably end up killing each other though. Whoever would win the fight would be lonely, forever.

-"He'll have your head, he loves me too much to hurt me." He pushes the lockerrooms door open, holding it open for me to step in first. "After you, Your Grace." Rolling my eyes, I step into the room filled with waves of laughter. And if anyone is asking it's not a smile on my face, of course not! It's well known that Mickey James III doesn't smile. But, I guess, Terzo does sometimes, and Baby, definitely.
