Work Text:
If there was one thing Gregory knew, it was that the pizzaplex was weird.
Right before the doors shut he was able to get a glimpse of the outside world he was so desperate to reach and saw… nothing. As if all that was out there was an endless void, and the pizzaplex was all that really existed. Everywhere room he entered caused a sense of deja vu, certain confidence in his movements although he’d never even visited this building before. He barely even knew the names of the characters, yet he traveled as if he knew every inch of this massive space like the back of his hand and easily avoided death by robot chicken as he worked to open any exit.
However, there was one thing in this hellhole he never could’ve anticipated. Something that should’ve been impossible by all laws of the universe known to man.
There wasn’t just one Monty standing at the spotlight. There were two. One actually at the spotlight, the other directly underneath.
He turned away and looked away and looked back to make sure he hadn’t been hallucinating and apparently he had been mistaken. There were actually three, with two underneath the actual spotlight
This escape mission had just become significantly harder.
All Gregory needed to do was get Freddy down the elevator and to a charging station. So, as long as he avoided that spotlight and staff-bots, they wouldn’t be a problem- what was that thumping?
No time to think, just get get out of their line of sight and hide! Into one of the photo booths he went, then he checked the cameras to make sure he knew when they left.
They didn’t leave.
They all ran to the booth he was in and just… stood there. Waiting. As if they knew he was in there, but couldn’t do anything until he left the hiding spot. Unfortunately, he couldn’t do anything while he was stuck in there, and time only seemed to move forward whenever he did something important. Even if he could wait out the rest of the night in this small space, it seemed unlikely the Monty mini-army would leave him alone and let him leave once six AM hit. There seemed to be no other option than to accept his fate.

Gregory knew the pizzaplex was weird, with some spaces feeling so janky it felt like glitches in the arcade games. Like how whenever Chica was chasing him, all he had to do was climb on top of a slightly elevated surface- like a potted plant or a counter- and she’d lose sight of him completely. But this was something else entirely.
How does an animatronic duplicate itself?
Standing at the spotlight was Montgomery. He didn’t know why he was there or how he got there, but that felt right to Gregory. What didn’t seem right was the second Monty standing right underneath the first one. A curiosity took over him, and he got close to the ground Monty to get a closer look. It didn’t attack, or even look at him, but everything else about it seemed to be Monty. Just… oddly still. Well, off to fix Freddy- and the Monties are chasing him.
He doesn’t even know how he got caught, all he knew was that he had to run and hide. Easy enough, just hop in the plant pot and they won’t be able to see him.
Wait, why were they still running towards him?

However the pizzaplex operated, Gregory knew it was very different from the rest of the world. He thinks, at least. His memories of outside are… fuzzy, to say the least. He just wanted to leave this crazy place and never return.
What was he escaping to anyways? He lives in a box in an alleyway, a newspaper his only comfort at night. He didn’t have any “home” to return to, so why was he so desperate to escape?
Whatever, he just had to repair Freddy… even though he could call Freddy just fine. Gregory didn’t know why or how there were two Freddies, just that one worked and the other didn’t, but he still had to help the broken one. Otherwise, nothing else would happen. It would be as if time stopped progressing and he wouldn’t be able to do anything else.
Well, maybe he could figure out a way. He knew what he still had to do.
He didn’t know where those memories came from. They felt clearer than the memories he thinks he should have.
Right. Mission. Parts and services. The showtime disc was in, he just had to get to the elevator- that’s not a good noise. That’s the sound of an animatronic running.
Actually… more like several.
Ok, into the working Freddy, whoever’s running at him will lose interest.
Safely inside of Freddy, Gregory was sure that he’d be fine. Except… the running noise didn’t stop. In fact, it kept getting louder. Closer. Before he knew it there were four Monties all on Freddy, primed to attack but not doing anything. Gregory tried to move Freddy away from them but they followed. There was no escape. Either Gregory would leave Freddy and sacrifice himself to the Monty army, or stay in Freddy’s chest until the battery died. There was no way out of this situation. Both options would mean death.
…Somehow Gregory felt that even death would not let him leave this building.
