Chapter Text

“Kunikida, principal Natsume would like to see in the office today.” Said Tokuda, who was Kunikida’s senior and in charge of the peer-conseling group that Kunikida had recently joined.
Kunikida thought it wasn’t anything bad, but he could never be too sure.
“Really, did Natsume-sensei tell you why?” Kunikida asked.
“No, actually the message was passed to me by Hirotsu-sensei last period.” Tokuda replied
“Oh I see, thank you for telling me Tokuda-san, I’ll be on my way now.”
“Of course, I’ll see you later.” Tokuda said.
With that Kunikida, set off to Natsume-sensei’s office. When he got there the first person was his classmate, Dazai. He had the addition of a gauze pad that had not been there last time Kunikida saw Dazai.
“Why are are you-!” Kunikida started angrily but didn’t know how to finish the sentence. Of course he was here. He the school-wide known delinquent: Osamu Dazai. All deliquents end up in the principals office eventually.
“Hello to you too Kunikida!!” Dazai said and gave him his signature smile.
Just then a hand was appeared on Kunikida’s shoulder: it was principal’s Natsume’s.
“Hello lad! How are you today?”
“I’m doing good sensei, thank you for asking.” Kunikida replied. He could always appreciate how sharp Natsume-sensei looked in his trench coat and hat.
“That’s good!” Natsume said,”So I take it that you and Dazai are familiar with each other?”
“Yes, sensei, we are classmates.” Kunikida replied.
“I’m glad” Natsume commented,”So let’s get to the matter at hand shall we.”
“Of course” Kunikida said.
“So Dazai here, I think would really benefit from your help.”
“In what way?” Kunikida asked.
“You do both peer counseling and tutoring right?” Natsume asked
“Yes sensei.”
“Good, I want to ask you to help Dazai with your tutoring and conseling.”
“I can’t do that!”
“Why not? I you don’t have to but if you don’t want to, but I’d like to know why.” Natsume sensei said
“I’ve tried offering my help to him before, but this idiot never accepts!” Kunikida exclaimed.
“Kunikida, please calm down.”
“Right, sorry Natsume-sensei.” Kunikida said.
“I talked to Dazai before and he said that he’d like the help.” Natsume said.
“Are you sure?” Kunikida asked
Natsume nodded his head.
“Well Dazai, do you want my help?” Kunikida turned towards the brunette and asked.
“Hmmmmmm, no.” Dazai said with a playful smile.
“Dazai, I thought you agreed earlier.” Natsume said, before Kunikida could walk over to Dazai and strangle him to death.
“Well, changed my mind.” Dazai replied
“Well in that case, I guess I should thank you Kunikida for taking your time to come here and attempt to help your classmate.”
“Wha- aren’t going to do anything, your just letting him of the hook!” Kunikida said,
“I’m afraid there isn’t I can do anything beyond this.” Natsume explained.
“So I’m gonna leave now.” Dazai announced and left.
“Well, you should get going too Kunikida, thanks for coming.” Natsume said.
“Yes, I’ll get going now.” Kunikida bowed and left Natsume’s office.

“Dazai what did you have to stay behind for?” Oda asked as soon as Dazai came in. He was cooking in the kitchen.
“Is that shrimp?” Dazai asked.
“Yes, but don’t try to avoid the question.” Oda said.
“I had to go to the principal’s office” Dazai said.
“Did you get into another fight?” Oda asked, the gauze pad on Dazai's face that wasn’t there before, could certainly be an indicator.
“Well, yes, but it’s not my fault! This dumb fucking bitch just decided he wanted to start something with me because he thought I was a weirdo and didn’t like my face apparently! Oda, I swear it’s not my fault, I just had to defend myself!”
“Relax, I was never accusing you. I understand what your saying. And please watch your language.” Oda said
“Right, but that wasn’t the reason I was there today.” Dazai said.
“Then what was?” Oda asked.
“It was so Natsume-sensei could get this kid to tutor me, because teachers always feel like they have to stick their noses in my business.”
“Well maybe they’re not wrong.” Oda suggested.
“What do you mean by that?” Dazai asked
“Your grades cold benefit from tutoring.”
“I’m good, I’d rather not have to stay after school if I can and the kid he suggested tutor me, doesn’t really like me.”
“Maybe he’s just one of those people and he’s just neutral about you.” Oda said.
“It doesn’t matter I’m not going, my grades are okay.” Dazai replied.
“You don’t have anything above a D.”
“I can just raise them at the end of the semester, and I can pass with a D.”
“Still don’t you think you should put more effort into it?” Oda asked.
“No and I’m not listening to a nosy teacher.”
“Dazai, it’s kind of their job to make sure your grades are good, they get paid for that.”
“Still I just want them to leave me alone.”
“I’m not going to force you to do anything, but consider it maybe? Can you do it for me if you have no other reason?”
“Ughhhhh, fine I’ll do it but if I don’t like it I’m dipping.” Dazai said.
“I’m okay with that as long as you give it a try.”
