Work Text:
GOING TO FAMILY VIDEO HAD BECOME SORT OF A HABIT TO BIRGIT. ever since she moved into hawkins — which had been about a month or so ago — she went everyday and rented a different movie.
it may or may not have had something to do with a pretty employee — and she may or may not have made it really obvious.
look, in her defense, it's not everyday you move to a tiny town in indiana, and go to a lame-ass video store and then, boom, there's an insanely gorgeous girl working there. who kind of looks gay. maybe. or maybe birgit is just being hopeful (or stupid).
but, yet again, she finds herself there. half looking for a movie–half staring at robin with heart eyes.
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
STEVE LAUGHED AT ROBIN WHEN HE NOTICED HER FACE LIGHT UP. it was that girl again, who had been consistently coming into the store for a month. "oh, you're so into her. it's disgusting."
robin rolled her eyes. "shut up, dingus. you're totally hot for munson." at that, steve blushed, messing with her hair.
"just go talk to her, she has been here everyday for a month, and is definitely not looking at me right now. and it wouldn't be so crazy to have another lesbian in the whole town. also, she did just move here. you never know." he said, giving her shoulder a comforting squeeze. robin smiled gratefully, and walked over to birgit.
as soon as she noticed robin heading over, birgit tried to act normal. normal as in avoided eye contact and almost knock over a bunch of movies.
"hey, birgit, right? welcome to family video, can i help you finding the best movie for your taste?" she asked nervously, wiping her sweaty hands on her skirt.
birgit smiled shyly. even after interacting with her tons of times, she still felt very very nervous. her face tinted pink, and she instantly felt sweaty. "uh, hi, yeah. i'm—i'm looking for some movies." she mentally facepalmed, and cursed out under her breath. "of course i am, sorry. do you have fame?"
oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, robin mentally freaked out. fame? that's like screaming 'i'm gay'. "yeah! yeah, yeah, uh let me find it for you. you can just wait over the counter if you want!"
blushing, birgit nodded and headed over to the counter. steve smiled at her, and headed to the back.
a minute or so later, robin showed up with the movie in hand. "that'll be three dollars and fifty cents."
it's now or never, birgit, just go for it! taking a deep breath, she rushed over her question. "doyoueverwannagoout?" and blushed deeply.
robin's eyes went wide, and her heart started beating faster. "can you say that again?" she had to be sure. maybe her brain was being crazy.
"i—i said do you ever wanna maybe... go out?"
"yes! yeah! um, yeah. totally, yeah. here," she grabbed a pencil and reached over to her arm, scribbling on it. "just call me whenever and we can, like, set it up. it's a date."
birgit smiled excitedly, and took her movie. "awesome. i'll—i'll call you. um, see you soon!" and rushed out of the store.
steve appeared over her shoulder, and messed with her hair. "when you live together in a small apartment in new york, remember my wise words. i told you so."
