Chapter Text
A gentle breeze wandered over the land, fresh leaves swirled up and performed a melodic dance with the wind. The sun shone brightly over the imposing building, which offered space for all students who wanted to become glorious heroes or feared villains.
The School for Evil looked dreary and gloomy, dark clouds surrounded the castle, which reminded one much more of a haunted castle and one could hardly imagine that anyone would live in it at all.
Just a few steps away, however, across the bridge that connected the two schools, was the School for Good. The palace shimmered in the brightest colors, gave off a comforting and welcome warmth, and seemed quite inviting to young princes and princesses.
Black and white, good and evil. For decades, these two radical opposites had been doomed to compete against each other in a constant battle for the upper hand. And as opposed as these two sides were, so were the teachers present there, one more single-minded and devoted than the other.
High up in the blue sky hovered a massive pile of giant birds, birds that looked more like fragile skeletons than large, imposing and proud eagles. It was almost hard to believe that it was these very animals that were dropping off the new arrivals at the two schools.
But this year it was not only students who were brought, the School for Good was expecting a new teacher to train the young lords and ladies to become outstanding princes, princesses and heroes.
The huge bird headed straight for the shining school, Y/N just let herself be carried by the graceful animal with great amazement. The wind played a little with her hair and hit her face icy cold, so that light tears were already forming.
Although most young ladies were afraid of these enormous birds, Y/N was quite different. Gently, the animal had set her down on the grass and with a slight yard curtsy, she had thanked it for the safe journey here.
The bird stretched its massive wings and rose back into the air, with one last dreamy smile Y/N watched it fly up to the others before she started moving to enter the school.
So that was it. The renowned school for the good. Old memories came back to her as she walked through the bright corridors of the castle. Once upon a time, Y/N herself had been at this school and trained to be the princess she was today. She would almost call it fate that now she, of all people, was the one who would lead the way for more girls and boys at this very school.
Things had changed since she was last here, but that didn't mean it was any less beautiful. Y/N wondered what she would encounter during her first year as a teacher at this school. What acquaintances she would make and, of course, how her students would do.
She approached the entrance area, that much was certain, because even from a distance one could hear the many excited voices of the new students. The young woman stepped through the huge double doors, the conversations of the others quieted down and all eyes turned to her. With the friendliest and warmest smile, she strode through the crowd, those who had been standing in the way immediately making way.
By all appearances, Y/N's reputation was far ahead of her. She was known as a kind-hearted princess who had dedicated her life to the fight against evil. Countless times she had emerged victorious and had devastated her opponents, but something else was making the rounds. She had rejected all the suitors who came to her to confess their love and to be with her, the reason for which always remained unknown. Not even the most graceful and romantic prince in this world had managed to conquer her heart for himself and so she was henceforth known as the first princess who did not want a prince.
"What is she doing here? Do you think she's the new teacher we heard about?"
"No way, seriously?! That's so cool!"
"Yeah, but what is she supposed to teach us anyway? How to reject the right prince?"
Just another little conversation between young girls that reached her ears. The rumors themselves had never bothered Y/N. After all, they hadn't dared to make fun of her seriously yet. And besides... There were also far worse things than the questionable looks of others. The whole thing would only become a scandal if the truth came to light. The truth about why she had rejected every prince who came to her. After all, she could not present to the world that it was another princess she would much rather have at her side.
Y/N was on the lookout for Dovey, after all, there were still one or two things for the two of them to discuss before the new school year would begin tomorrow.
The Dean of Good was in the center of the room, her long silky dress gleaming in the brilliant light of the large chandelier on the ceiling. Y/N's presence did not pass her by unnoticed, so she turned and instantly had to smile. "It has been a while, but it is my great pleasure to see you again." She looked excited. Much more excited than Y/N was and so she stepped closer to the young woman. "The pleasure is all mine. It is an honor for me to be back here after so long." The entrance hall was huge, much larger than she remembered.
Dovey chuckled softly. "I'm very sure you feel that way. Oh, good grief I forgot to show you your room! Well, where have my manners gone? Please be patient, I will now welcome our new students for this year and then I will fix this catastrophic mistake on my part." She suddenly looked stressed, almost embarrassed that she could not show Y/N around. But the woman couldn't help laughing softly and waving once. "Please, don't bother on my account. Go about your duty, I'll just wait for you then." After all, she wasn't necessarily in such a hurry and there was still plenty of time to arrive at the school in peace.
Many young ladies had gathered to be received by the dean and to be assigned by her to their dormitories. No matter where you looked, the room was filled with glitter, tulle, and excited voices. The sight almost made Y/N nostalgic. It reminded her of how she too had once been one of those excited souls who couldn't wait to finally be instructed in magic.
"Now then, it will be a little while before the official opening where we will join the Nevers, so come along dear, I'll show you to your room, then you can settle in at your leisure." Dovey had joined Y/N after everyone had disappeared to freshen up. Meanwhile, Y/N continued to follow the dean through the many hallways and corridors. Not getting lost here was probably going to be a decent challenge yet.
"So, here we are. If there's anything you need, let me know at any time."
Y/N opened the door that led to her room and entered. Immediately she was struck by the immense size of this room. A huge window through which the warm light of the sun shone in, bright silky curtains and not to forget the huge canopy bed that looked more comfortable than any bed Y/N had ever slept in. She was more than sure that she would be very comfortable here.
The young woman stepped closer to the window to take a look outside. She had caught one of the rooms whose view led across to the other school. The large bridge separating the two schools was clearly visible, as were the dark hazy clouds. And while the view from the window might not be the best, that didn't make her presence at this school any less beautiful. She could live with having this view, after all, there were far worse things.
Time flew by, Y/N had been busy unpacking her luggage and settling into her new room when it was time to meet with the School of Evil and welcome all the new students this year, as had always been the tradition.
Y/N had already left a little earlier, because she had to find the place of her destination first, with all the many corridors.
Two tribunes had been set up on the sides of the long hall. On one side, all the young ladies had gathered and were already sitting down. All the prince candidates were probably preparing for their grand entrance, since that was the tradition that was still maintained, as Dovey had told her. On the other side, however, the students from the other school gradually appeared. Dark, black clothes and scary faces. There was really no doubt that this was the school for evil.
An ice-cold shiver ran down Y/N's spine and she retreated a little to one of the more quiet corners. From there, she would be able to watch the entire event without any problems, and she wouldn't disturb anyone doing anything. But she had no idea at this point that in not too long she would have a fateful encounter.
The time had come, all the students were seated in their assigned seats and the two deans of the two schools stepped forward. One of them was Dovey, of course she was and Y/N couldn't help but smile immediately. She couldn't explain it, but this woman somehow exuded a certain feeling of pleasant warmth. But then her eyes fell on the woman standing next to Dovey. Reddish hair that shimmered like the most beautiful copper, a tall stature and dressed in a black, long coat. This woman definitely embodied a very different aura than Y/N's good friend. There was no doubt at all that she belonged to the other school.
Who the hell is she? Y/N could not take her eyes off the strange woman. The way she moved, it was a very unique and different kind of grace. Different from what she knew, anyway.
"And I am Lady Lesso. Dean of the School of Evil."
No movement seemed too much, the posture and body language, everything suited her as if she had never done anything else.
It was only when Lesso turned her head in Y/N's direction and their eyes met that the young woman realized she had begun to stare. Embarrassed, she quickly averted her gaze and tried to concentrate as best she could on the young men's performance. Lady Lesso, huh... For belonging to the School of Evil, she seemed quite affable compared to some of the others, and was blessed with intangible beauty. Y/N could still feel the Dean's gaze on her and even though she tried her best to ignore it, she didn't always manage it and every now and then her gaze wandered over to the red-haired woman.
