Summary
Three years after running away from home to live with Nancy, Mike Wheeler is now 19 years old in 1991. Studying music and writing while working in a bar and playing in a band, Mike has spent the better part of two years building up a persona on stage that shuts people out, keeps his secrets close to the chest, and he tries not to let anyone close outside of his small friend group. Then one night, at a gig, he sees Will Byers and Eleven Hopper sitting in the audience, and Mike begins to struggle to keep up the walls he built up for so long, especially as he gets to know the shy Will, who has secrets of his own.
Will becomes the first person Mike risks it all for, and he doesn’t know at what cost it will be.
