Talking Shit About a Pretty Sunset

Summary:

"Yknow I've seen a lot cooler." Sonic shuffled to get a look of Shadow's face.

Shadow's muzzle scrunched up in confusion, "Cooler what?"

"Sunsets." Sonic said as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. Shadow gave a brief nod of understanding. "Yeah, me too."

Notes:

Really shitty drabble inspired by 'Talking Shit About a Pretty Sunset' by Modest Mouse.

Sonic and Shadow are mtf in this.

This was surreal.

Not only did she feel more like herself than ever, but it seems her rival was facing the same experience.

Once a broody hedgehog with a ridged, anxiety-ridden stance, now a confident girl with a fierce attitude. Not much had changed, but at the same time, everything had.

They still had their friendly banter, quips, races to nowhere, their spars, their deep contemplative conversations on lonely nights. Yet, the air around them had shifted.

No longer did they walk around feeling imprisoned in their own bodies. They were free. Free to speak their minds, acknowledge when their hands brushed, embrace each other in a mutual understanding that they were complete.

---

They layed in the grass littered in droplets from the evening rain. Sonic gently carding her fingers through the object of her affection's chest fur. A characteristic that was so very Shadow. A true part of her that she embraced even after her transition.

A lovely spread of colors tainted the sky, bathing the hedgehogs in an orange glow.

Shadow's muzzle scrunched up in confusion, "Cooler what?"
