Chapter Text

"Happy eleventh birthday!" Marinette's parents said holding her cake up to her grinning madly. "Thanks Maman! Thanks Pà!" Marinette replied running over to give them a hug, stopping to let them put down the small cherry blossom themed cake before continuing her advance. They all waited a few minutes before cutting the cursive covered cake, taking their respective slices to their seats. Nonna strutting in, saying something about a trip to England, before a piece of cake got shoved into her hands. Marinette quickly grabbed some forks and handed them out before her parents could protest, saying they would. Everyone idly chatting while eating their cake slices. It was a small party, but Marinette kind of liked the cozy party, it was a nice getaway from her extremely social self.

Marinette and her family had finished up the cake when Jacques, the pigeon, and a barn owl with a letter in its beak started tapping on the window. "See, I told you that she'd definitely be taking a trip to England! I mean she's demonstrated magical capabilities since she was 1!" Nonna cried out, as Marinette rushed over to the window. "'magical capabilities' what do you mean by that, Nonna?" Marinette asked. "Sweetie, I know this may seem strange to you, but magic is real, and you're a witch." Sabine started. "You're a witch, My Fairy, and we live in a world filled with magical creatures that muggles, non magic users, can't see." Nonna continued. "Muggles aren't the only non magic users out there though, there are also squibbs, which are people born to magical families with no magical powers." Tom, Marinette's father, finished.

"Okay, yeah, magic is real, magic is cool. But why is there an owl with a letter in its beak on our windowsill?" Marinette questioned, not turning her back on the two air fowl. "Well -" Tom answered "That is your acceptance letter to the best wizarding school in all of Europe.". "Can I learn more about it." Marinette stated, deciding to probe them further. "Of course, My Fairy, I would be happy to tell you!" Nonna called while heading to stand by the door, and continuing with "would you like to see my broom?". "Of course!" Came the swift answer, Marinette obviously looking eager to see it. Nonna came back a few minutes later with her motorcycle in tow, she muttered something under her breath, causing the appearance of the motorcycle to fall away, leaving an Oakshaft 79 in its place. Marinette looked at the broom with awe, until Sabine cleared her throat and said "Okay that's all fine and dandy, but Marinette wouldn't you like to grab your letter?"

Marinette let out a quick squeak, having forgotten about the birds upon the Mention of the motorcycle. She opened the window and apologized for making them wait outside, while Nonna replaced the illusion on her broom and hastily took it back outside. When she came back Marinette had the letter in her hand, ready to open it. Her parents signifying their approval as she opened the parchment envelope, reading aloud everything she saw.
