   A bit more. He took in several deep breaths and clenched his fists in his jeans pocket, running his tongue over his dry lips before opening them for another attempt. "I'm… not okay with this… “

   It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop, so silent even the otherwise elusive heart hammering in his chest could be heard in place of words. He was nervous — far too nervous to look over his shoulder to steal a glance of the girl’s expression. Was she angry? Sad? Either way, Yuuji couldn’t bring himself to find out.

   “What was that…?” Breaking the silence, Momo slightly pulled away from the boy just enough to peer up at his face. It wasn’t fair how sweet she looked right then. How sad her eyes looked as she searched his face for reason. And her words following then caused Yuuji to nearly choke. “Don’t you love me?”

   And just that alone was enough.. to knock him down again and send him to his knees, eyes hot with tears threatening to fall at any moment.
