Harriet Hook's Application

Summary:

Celia, Dizzy, Squeaky, and Squirmy weren't the only VKs to send applications to Auradon. The following is a copy of the application of Harriet Hook, eldest daughter of Captain James Hook.

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

Name: Harriet Hook

Known Aliases: Captain Hook, Captain Hook the Second, Captain, The Scary Hook Girl, The Only One Who Can Ever Make CJ Do Anything. That last one may be long-winded, but it is a personal point of pride for me.

Nicknames or Other: None. Do not listen to what my siblings say. I do not answer to Hettie, Hattie, Riet, Rietta, Retta, or Harri. (The last of which is literally my brother's name. My sister thinks she's funny.)

Date of Birth or Best Guess: Midwinter, more or less.

Place of Birth: The Jolly Roger.

Favorite Color: Red.

Favorite Activity: Reading, poetry, honing my weapons skills, making sure my crew is well cared for.

I don't think that last one is an activity.

It is if I say it is. Why are you writing on my paper?

Do you really not have any other hobbies?

Go finish your own application, Harry.

Favorite School Subject: I graduated two years ago, but my favorite subjects were Literature, History of the Wharf, History of the Isle, History in general, and Scheme Management 101.

Father's Name (or alias): Captain James Hook.

Mother's Name (or alias): Zarina Sidhe Hook.

Father's Profession: Captain of the Jolly Roger.

Mother's Profession: None, deceased.

Who is your favorite of the first wave of VKs? There is no wrong answer. Of the first four children to come over?

(CJ, if you're reading this, and I wouldn't put it past you, no. By "first wave" they mean of the first four Isle children who were legally chosen to come over, not any ones who tricked their way into Auradon later. Besides, I'm not giving you the satisfaction.)

I respect Mal. She has a group of people she is responsible for, just like I do, and she manages to lead them, and she's never lost face. It's hard to earn other's respect, here on the Isle. Trust me. She's a worthy opponent. And that's only what she's done on the Isle - in Auradon she managed to get your king enamoured of her.

In your own words, tell us why you want to come to Auradon. There is no wrong answer. I actually don't have much hope for this application. I'm too old for this program. But there's no harm in trying, and I'm making everyone else fill one out as well, so I might as well.

I do want to get off the Isle, but I wouldn't want to unless my entire crew got off as well. I'm not abandoning them. They are all sending in applications as well, but they are not the captain; they are not responsible for everyone.

Do you know how many people are on my crew? Twenty-eight. And that's without siblings and assorted alliances. I am the captain of this crew, and I am responsible for them all. A captain goes down with the ship, and I will not leave my crew.

I would want to come to Auradon to make a better life for them, like they deserve.
