Summary
Screaming. Fire. A wail, a sharp piercing feeling, darkness. The memory of it stuck like bile, a low hum in her mind, thrumming insistently, calling to her, but she could not move.
There was darkness for a while. So long, in fact, that she was uncertain whether or not she was real. Perhaps this was the afterlife — similar to the feeling of being almost awake, but not quite, where all of the sounds and smells around you mesh together into something so perfectly incomprehensible —
And then there was a crack, following the lightest of touches to the coffin she was encased in.
