Work Text:
Pepper found Steve sitting at the kitchen table looking melancholy as he looked at a WWII era sketchbook of his drawings. Do you mind if I join you?" Pepper asked.
"Please do, Miss--," Steve said.
"Call me Pepper. I'm going to pour myself a cup of coffee. Would you like me to top yours off?"
"Thank you," Steve said. 'That's very nice."
Taking Steve's cup, she topped off his coffee and then poured for herself. She joined Steve and her eyes fell on the open page and smiled at the sketch of Peggy Carter. "I met her when I first started at Stark Industries. She was a lovely lady."
"I miss her," Steve said.
"You must miss a lot of people," Pepper said. "It has to be fresh for you."
Steve nodded sadly.
"You should write a memoir," Pepper said. "You could use your sketches to illustrate your book."
"No one would be interested in anything I'd have to say," Steve said. "It was so long ago."
"You'd be surprised," Pepper said. "It's important for WWII veterans to leave their stories and histoires. Let me make a call."
Steve ran his fingers along Peggy's sketched cheek and told Pepper yes.
