Nights on Alternia are truly beautiful. Cool air, clear skies, and the soft glow of the moons give the surface an almost romantic feel. Not that Charun visits the upper level very often. They're content to lurk in their caverns, every day awed by some new discovery that no other troll is privy to. Jagged crystals that glow with black light. Mutated animals that crouch in the dark corners and acid pools. Tonight, though, they're avoiding the outside world for another reason. They've fallen in.. Love. Or something similar.
It's a horribly unfamiliar feeling. They get clammy just thinking about it. They've seen their hatchmates and friends get their own matesprits and kismesis, even participated as temporary auspistice for some of their rockier relationships, but they always only did it out of necessity. Romance has always been beyond their range of emotional awareness, and up til now they've been fine with it.
Unfortunately, life has decided to throw a wrench in their whole sense of identity in the form of a sweaty, grimy, redblooded troll. They're not even one hundred percent sure it's 'love'- after all they have no prior experience to base it on- they just know they want to be near him, feel his hair, hold his hand... They lean against the damp cave wall and close their eyes. Surely this will pass. They just have to wait it out.
A scuttling startles them out of their wallowing and they're quick to fetch their specibus, but relax after seeing it's just another cavern-dwelling animal. They sit down and hold their hand out to it, same as you might with a stray cat. The insect just opts to run away. They huff and, wiping their hands on their shirt, decide to begin the ascent back to their hive. Sleeping this slimy feeling off feels like their last option.
