He remembered, long ago, when they first met.
”Sonic!” Amy cried out as Metal Sonic dropped her from a great height and flew off quickly. Sonic leaped up, and caught Amy in midair. They fell together, Amy in his arms. “Thank you,” she said, and Sonic abruptly let go of her, making her almost fall on her face. “Hey!” she said angrily, and Sonic quickly turned back to her in time and started snickering.
That was a memory he held close to his heart, as it was when he first developed feelings for Amy Rose, feelings that would change and grow over time… until they became a word he was familiar with. Love.
He was on Starfall Islands, trying to save Amy and the others. He was currently sitting in a field of dandelions alongside Amy, and Amy’s expression was one of sadness as she couldn’t touch any of the dandelions and make a wish on them. Her hand would just phase through. Little white tufts carried by the wind drifted around them, and Sonic smiled, a weary one, at Amy.
”Cheer up, will ya? We’ll get out of this place soon.”
Amy wiped an eye, as if she was stopping herself from crying. “Yeah, you’re right.” She shook her head quickly, trying to make the gloom disappear from her face. It kind of worked.
Sonic got up. “It was nice talking to you. I gotta explore the rest of the island, so see ya, Ames!”
Amy waved, and Sonic took off. She didn’t stop gazing after him until he disappeared from sight.
Amy kneeled in the dandelions, and concentrated. Then she reached out, and plucked one.
Sonic’s green eyes narrowed at the massive Titan looming before him, casting a shadow that surrounded him on all sides. The Titan struck, and the fight began.
The Titan eventually was gone. Near what was left of it, Sonic lied in the grass, bruises and scrapes all over his body. He felt like he could barely move. It hurt too much to move. Suddenly, he saw something before his eyes. A small, white tuft, and it landed in his gloved hand. He turned his head to look at it. It was a dandelion. He closed his eyes, his hand closing around the white tuft, and in a flash, he was gone.
Amy was staring again at the direction Sonic had gone. She had blown the dandelion that way, hoping it had reached him. It was meant to be a message, telling him Good luck. Her hand was over her heart, and she could feel it beating, louder and louder.
Sonic continued to run, not stopping, not caring about his injuries, the dandelion still in his hand. He had never been more determined to accomplish anything in his life. He remembered all those years ago what he told Amy after he had caught her after Metal Sonic had dropped her: “I’ve got you, Amy!”
He would make certain for that to be true this time, no matter what. He gained more and more speed. He wouldn’t stop, not until she was completely safe from any danger. His emerald eyes flashed with determination.
”I’ll free you soon, Ames…”
