Work Text:
For their first date, Leon decided to take Emil to watch a fireworks show. They arrived early, so, fortunately, they were able to get a decent spot to watch from. Unfortunately, however, it would be another half hour until the show’s supposed to start.
“So, what now?” Emil asks, sitting next to Leon, looking up at the sky.
“I guess we wait for the show to start,” Leon shrugs.
Sighing deeply, Emil looks to Leon. “Well, thank you, Mister Obvious,” he scoffs. “I was asking about what to do in the meantime.”
“Oh,” Leon smiles awkwardly and looks away. “I don’t know,” he mumbles.
Suddenly, someone starts blasting some music, interrupting their awkward silence. Neither Emil nor Leon recognizes the song, but the sudden noise where there was silence causes them to laugh uncontrollably.
“I- It’s not even funny,” Emil stutters between giggles, “Why are we laughing so hard?”
“No clue!” Leon laughs harder.
It takes them a few minutes to regain composure, and by the time they do, they’ve started holding hands.
“I’m enjoying this,” Emil smiles genuinely, “Even if the fireworks haven’t started yet.”
“I’m glad,” Leon smiles and hugs Emil closely.
Finally, as they’re still in each other’s arms, the fireworks show begins. The timing couldn’t be more perfect; the fireworks lighting up the area just enough that Leon can see Emil’s face lighting up and his smile widening.
Leon himself can’t help but stare at Emil; his quiet gorgeousness and expression are quite eye-catching.
Catching Leon staring, Emil looks to him and chuckles. “Beautiful, right?”
Leon is unsure whether Emil is referring to the fireworks or himself.
“Yeah,” Leon sighs, deciding to not think about it too much.
“Although, I will admit,” Emil starts.
“Hm?” Leon hums in curiosity.
“The northern lights are much prettier.”
“I wouldn’t know, I haven’t seen them,” Leon replies.
“Well, someday,” Emil smiles softly, “I’m going to take you to Iceland and we’ll watch them together.”
“I’ll look forward to that.”
