Falling Fast

Summary:

So I wrote this a while ago, but only posted it now... It's about René Artois and Hubert Gruber from 'Allo 'Allo, and my twist on the events, making it gay(er).

I've also tried to do an impression of the show's style.

Hope you like it! :D

Chapter 1: Butterfly in the storm

Summary:

It all begins with René slipping while serving in the café... directly tackling Hubert Gruber.

Chapter Text

His heart beat like the fluttering wings of a butterfly. For a moment, he lay on him, allowing his senses to take in all of the moment...the lutenant's smell, his touch, his heartbeat - his cheeks turned red, and with half his senses stuck in the past, he got up, and resumed his position behind the counter, the only differnce between the past and the present being his red face and his gaze into the abyss.
"René, meet me in ze backrooom!" a high voice ordered.
*Finally... something that will get my blood boiling!* he thought.
Without waiting, he left the room, hanging onto the doorknob for stability. He looked around the café to check if everything was in order... an awkward pair of eyes glared back. His knees trmbled. He shut the door, ending the unwanted eyecontact.
"Oh, Renééé!!!"
"Oh, Yvette..." their bodies entangled in a passionate hug. Her arms held him firm enough to let him know *he* was the one she loved, and she'd never let go.
"Oh, René... when are we to get married?"
René patted her back.
"You know how it is. I need to marry my wife first, so I can get my café back so we'll have money after ze war"
"You promise?" tears filled her eyes.
"I..." he thought of the pair of eyes "I ..."
The door creeked open, and the Couole jumped apart.
"René...!"
It was Edith, and she asked about her cabaret introduction.
"I'm sorry, my dear, but I feel dizzy. And I have a headache..."*From your singing* he added.

René lay awake in the moonlight coming through the courtains. The vlock of the town vhurch had just striked 3. in three hours, he'kl have to get up and begin his day. Edith was snoring peacefully beside him; on a normal day, it would've been enough for him to want to run around the square with his pajamas on, screaming as his nerves gave up.
Luckily, this never happened before.
But on this night, he could not hear her rhythmic-bagpipe-lifesigns. He was too indulged in his thoughts and feelings. *I felt so cold... unnaturally cold being there...but THAT, that was enough for him to confess everyhting he never thought would be able to do. For one pair of grey eyes... everyhting. But... surely it doesn't mean...? You should just accept yourself René. The Germans will think you're a pervert anyway. The nature of your paramour won't interest them at all... but it really did feel right... Well, the only thing lwft is to confess.* And his eyelids covered his eyes like coffins. For it was the death of a part of him.
