"What are you doing?" Though his voice was low and airy, Morro could see the seeping danger within Kai's eyes, and oh god.
The black haired young man swept his hand smoothly over the red ninja's defined back, his rings adorned fingers went down from Kai's broad shoulders to the end of his trapezius and rested there, he could feel the faint contraction of the muscles beneath, exposing Red's tension and unease.
"I'm patting your back, thought you could use some comfort"
It was dark and the fire elemental master was no cat, the little bit of light defining shapes around him couldn't possibly bespeak the depths of Morro's sickening grin. Yet he knew, even without seeing his face, far from comforting him... that bastard enjoyed the show.
"Fuck you"
Morro's sharp teeth flashed as he grinned, and Kai felt sick. It got worse when the wind elemental clad in black sat beside him atop the pile of boxes, one leg pulled up and shoulder snug against his.
"Let me tell you this, Kai" Kai was busy pushing the heavy, stinky body of the man away when his ear unwillingly received his hoarse, obnoxious voice.
"Be it Garmadon or the Overlord, your brat's life was fucked up the moment the prophecy fell out of that geezer's mouth" Morro's body fully faced the ninja's, their carefully trained torsos hunched slightly under the storage room's low ceiling, and though Kai tried to keep the distance, Morro deliberately inched his head closer in his space, the wind elemental’s silver earrings gleamed hit with the light coming from under the door, "that's the thing with letting words from some white haired fuckers decide what you do".
"No matter how messed up, all you can do is shut up and listen because of course he knows better than you", "if your stupid face gets any closer I swear to god-" "of course you have to indure as you watch that brat get crushed with tons and tons of shitiness nobody cares about, because he has a prophecy to fulfil, a destination to reach" "Morro", "you indure because the old man from the good side told you that you're all on the right path, he couldn't possibly be wrong, wisdom and foresight overweight what ordinary people see as child abus-".
Kai couldn't take it anymore...
He was never able to take anything in the first place, and that was precisely why he could only listen to Master Wu and watch as Lloyd fell down and down from afar.
Because Master Wu was patient while Kai was not. Because while Master Wu could see the true nature behind obscure, unimaginable things, Kai could only understand what was layed in front of him.
Morro's body fell with a loud bang right after the brown headed ninja punched his jaw, "gahh" his bumpy fingers were dipped in a pool of warmth falling from his mandible. Blood was freaking scary when you couldn't see it, but Morro could only grin in madness, his eyes not following the liquid but rather the enraged master, face laced with wrath watching him from above.
"You freak, you think I don't know what you're doing?" He shook his fist as if getting rid of filth, "Lloyd has already been chosen, whether it was you or Garmadon, no one can change destiny"
"All I can do is protect him from the likes of you"
"Heh" in the blink of an eye, Kai's leg was pulled down, and he fell on the ground next to the wind elemental with a thud, his head hit the tiled floor hard, but before he allowed himself to groan he immediately jumped back up, eyes flashing with burning gold and palms sparkling with ominous power, their momentary flickers of light illuminated the room in sequence, and their yellows reflected on the wind elemental's elated eyes like fireworks.
Morro's black hoodie puffed out as he willed his winds to position him standing straight and tall opposite to Wu's student, his hair, which was pushed back, smoothly covered his forehead with the swift movement. Watching the shithead grin as if he knew something Kai didn't was nothing less than stomach-churning for Red.
Kai was always stuffed with anger, rage that was eating and munching on his flesh and bones, yet he kept it all chained and controled when Master Wu did it, because it was Master Wu the wise who knew everything, of course he knew better than Kai, of course Kai must accept that.
"Does he need your protection, I wonder" Morro caught kai's fist, their entwined hands shook from the tremendous force Morro needed to hold the ninja's cold knuckles in position before it disfigures his face. "I mean" wickedness dripped from his features as he brought his face closer, his other hand sliding with a fist of its own aimed at his opponent "you couldn't even protect him from his own fate".
Kai held his ground from falling even when Morro's hit was enhanced with his element. His left cheek pulsed with pain but he couldn't tell if it was bleeding or not. He perked up at the sound of footsteps approaching the storage room's door, a tiny part of himself that still cared wished for whoever was there to not open the door.
Lloyd's school life was already in ruin, he didn't need to add more.
"Come with us, Kai"
And another much bigger part of himself wanted to shut the fucker up.
"We can still fix this, Lloyd wouldn't need to fight his old man if he left Wu's side, how do you expect a prophecy to come true if you didn’t give it the chance?"
He was tired of people telling him what he needed to do.
"Would you just shut up?"
Especially when it came to his little brother's miserable life.
As if the room's LEDs were on, a brilliant shade of red twirled around following Kai performing spinjitzu, you could see almost everything tinted with pink, including Morro's nasty bingo face, his black sparkled with crimson, and though it was reflected off of Kai's element, it could also speak of evil and ominousness Kai had no time to see, blinded by anger.
"Haha" Morro, the disgusting fool laughed when Kai's spinjitzu engulfed him. A storage room was no ground for elemental masters' duels, boxes and tools were torn apart and tiled floor was scorched with burning flames, a frightening gash lined across the side of Morro's head and three trails of blood were drawn over Kai's exposed clavicle protuberance. They fought like street brats, fingers wraped around hair and teeth chewing on skin. Burned epithelium and wind cut fabric decorated their frames.
"I don't fucking care what Master Wu says" his neck was firmly held within Morro's powered fists, while his legs were wrapped around the wind's lower abdomen, a previous attempt of holding him in place, his hands were holding chunks of the elemental's black hair, ready to burn him bald. "Heck, I don't even give a fuck about that prophecy". Morro's ugly face above him was all messed up like his, yet the bastard dared to continue on that smiley shit, "all Lloyd has to do is choose and I'm gonna be with him all the way, be it through hell and back".
"He's an idiot" his voice hoarse, Morro provocatively leaned his head on Kai's fist, his cheek brushed the fingers firmly holding his hair. "Let the geezer ask him to kill himself and he'd do it oh so gladly, would you still let him choose for himself even with knowing that?"
Kai slapped Morro's cheek away.
"I would" he said, "I freaking hate people who try to tell you what to do the most" all resolved and stupidly brave he replied, but Morro could still see his eyes wavering, he could still feel his muscles twitching.
And oh yes, the approaching footsteps did stop at the door.
"Mr. Smith?"
Kai tsked, eyes on the bright light escaping from the opened door. There goes his attempt on keeping Lloyd's education.
When Kai looked up, of course, Morro disappeared again.
