There was a cruelty in giving Pete this mission that Pete never thought Kinn capable of. Pete wondered if it had been Korn’s idea. When Tankhun had heard, he’d burst into Arm’s office and yelled and wailed and threatened Kinn while Pete’s old implants were reactivated. It was fine, Pete reassured him with a smile.
Arm insisted on privacy while he tested a few of the routines. Pete tried not to think about the last time they’d been used. He’d escaped that life when he became a bodyguard for the Theerapanyakul royal family. They’d paid his debt and deactivated the implants, giving him full control over his own body. Now he’d been instructed to turn the implants back on and trust them in the hands of the one member of the royal family most likely to misuse them for his own pleasure. This was the worst mission he’d ever been given, and he’d never wanted one more.
