“What did they do to you?” she finally asks, her voice a whisper.
Steve shuts his eyes, breathing in slowly. Everybody seems to want to ask him questions he doesn’t have the right answers to lately.
“It doesn’t matter. I’m fine, it’s over.” When he opens his eyes again he can tell she doesn’t believe him, but she doesn’t ask again. Steve thinks he might love her for it.
(or, the immediate aftermath of Starcourt, because Steve and Robin are traumatized and also platonic soulmates)
