Work Text:
Since Callen and Anna’s wedding is a small affair, there aren’t too many people on the dance floor. The happy couple are in the centre, lost in one another’s eyes and having heard of what they’ve gone through to get here, OA can’t blame them. Over in a corner, Deeks is being uncharacteristically serious as he dances with Kensi, while Eric and Nell are attempting some kind of “Dancing with the Stars” type waltz.
He’s sitting in his chair, enjoying getting to know Fatima’s team, putting faces to names after so many phone conversations and face to face stories when Fatima leans over and covers his hand with hers. Suddenly he can’t see anything but her.
And the tilt of her head.
And her eyes that can only be described as winsome.
“You know,” she says, in a voice that exactly matches her eyes, “we’ve never danced together.”
It’s on the tip of OA’s tongue to deny it, because that couldn’t possibly be true. But then he goes back through the last few months, all the times they’ve been together and the even more that they haven’t and he realises she’s right.
Never, not once, not even idly in the kitchen as a song plays in the background, has he danced with her.
“Well,” he says, standing up and extending a hand to her, “I think we should rectify that, don’t you?”
Her smile is brilliant and he feels himself fall a little bit more. “I thought you’d never ask.”
