Colors in Ophelia Hall

Summary:

Wednesday helps Enid with her hair.

Notes:

Hi!! This little scene has been stuck on my head for a few days, so I've decided to write it out to see if I can focus on writing my essay (that should be 100% done already UGHHHH) instead of obsessing over Wednesday 24/7. This is my first (real) time writing about a stablished character, so I apologize if the characterization isn't really good. Also English isn't my first language so sorry for any mistakes too!! Feel free to correct/say anything if you want to, but be kind or I might run away and never post anything again. That's pretty much it!! I hope you like it *2 virtual little kisses on your cheeks* byeee.

ps: also I haven't really checked for any mistakes bc of my lazy ass so apologize n3 I guess.

Work Text:

“Sit still, or I’ll drench your whole head in oil.”

Enid sat. She knew Wednesday wasn’t one of empty threats. At least not in Nevermore, she wasn’t.
“You don’t need to be so grumpy about it, you know. Thing was just done grabbing the hair dye before you came. We can do it ourselves if it bothers you so much.” She teased, turning her head to take a look at the hand, who did a positive sign.

Her movements made Wednesday stiff, and the smaller girl grabbed her chin to keep her from moving. Jesus, she had a strong grip.

Enid tried not to shiver with their proximity. Or with their faces being so close to each other. That way, she could see all of her tiny freckles, and her heart-shaped mouth, colored with its usual dark shade of red.

She closed her eyes to keep her from kissing her straight away. Ugh, how could she be so stupid? Falling for her roommate. Her roommate, who _activetly_ did not like her the very least back. She was pathetic.

Whatever.

“Thing couldn’t color anything properly, even if I broke a few fingers and replaced them with new ones.” She replied, her tone sharp as always. “It couldn’t even open the vault without making us wait for 10 minutes.” Thing showed her its middle finger, but it was no use. It only made her eyes grow bigger with boredom. “Improve.” Wednesday turned again, paying Enid her full attention. “As much as I wish to see people being humiliated in school grounds, the only person who gets to have that satisfaction with you is me.” She loosed her grip on the blonde’s chin, promptly grabbing the blue and pink hair dye. “So be still, or I’ll love to turn you into a little nightmare.”

“Wednesday!” Enid’s pitched voice reverberated on the girls’ shared room, as she faced herself of the mirror. “It's perfect! I was afraid you’d fuck it up by dying it all black, or I don’t know… But it’s just like always! Thank you!” She went for a hug, but Wednesday ducked her and went straight to her side of the room, her back to Enid as she started typing on her typewriter.

Enid’s hair was shiny as always, with its purple and pink ends glowing alongside her bubble blue eyes and shiny face.

“You don’t have what it takes to wear dark colors, Enid. It is not suited for you.” Her bored tone would’ve made anyone retreat and get offended. Enid, however, simply cornered her desk until her roommate had no choice but to face her, not bothered at all.

“Well, how do I look? You didn’t say anything about it once we were done.” She asked, placing her hands on the desk so her short hair would be as near Wednesday as possible, which made her shrug, in attempt of brushing the blonde away.

“You look like a unicorn has vomited all over you but attempted to clean its mark, leaving only those ends on it. It’s as though there’s glitter impregnated on your soul.” Wednesday’s insult, again, did not bother Enid at all. She accepted the compliment, heading happily to her side to grab her backpack.

“You look good too, Wednesday.” She giggled, her face only a bit red. “Okay, gotta go, Yoko’s waiting for us to do our weekly review on my website’s main gossip topics.”

That made the other girl frown, disgusted much. Enid rolled her eyes and opened the door to leave, ready for a nice session of getting into other people's business.

“Thing said you look good, too.”

She heard, and it made her smile just the same.
