Nick smiled when Joey sat down next to him. They had a thing , a secret thing . That meant Nick couldn't just hold Joey's hand around Jason, Merwin, or even Rachel. So when Joey sat next to him, he tried his hardest to resist holding his hand or kissing him on the cheek. And even if Nick said it was a bro thing, Jason wouldn't buy it because he was a bro.
Joey smiled at Nick and turned back to the others. Nick loved his smile. Nick couldn't help but smile back, it was like Joey's smiles were contagious.
Jason knew something was going on between them, and he definitely assumed it was a gay thing, and he would've asked Nick about it, but he didn't. He felt it was best to leave him alone.
Joey and Nick were talking almost the entire time. The two talked and talked until they finally landed. It was time to get serious, and Nick knew that. He just wanted to talk to Joey more and flirt and say it was a joke since that was all they could really do at the moment.
Half an hour later, Nick was shooting and fearing for his life. He wished he could immediately go back to laughing with Joey. As Nick shot at these people he didn't intentionally want to hurt, he started to worry about Joey. His anxiety got worse when he heard Joey yell for help.
Nick ran past all the bullets getting shot at him. If he got hit, he wouldn't have noticed. All he cared about was Joey, who had been shot multiple times. Nick yelled for Jason to cover him. He picked up Joey and carried him behind a building.
"Whatever happens, I'll be here," Nick yelled, tears in his eyes.
Joey smiled. Nick wrapped his arms around Joey and lifted him. He could tell he was in pain. As blood ran down Joey's cheek, his breathing slowed. Nick hugged him.
"Liar," Joey whispered into Nick's ear before his breathing stopped and his sweet smile disappeared. Nick dropped Joey and cried even harder. He then took Joey's necklace and put it on. He stood up and wiped the tears off his face. Knowing he would never see the cute smile Joey always used to give him. Knowing he would never hold him again, never kiss him again, and never see him again.
