Work Text:

"Connie, behave," Julia said before she dove into the water with Alex.

Conrad rolled his eyes and went downstairs to get another beer. He was met with Brad, who was too busy reading on B-29s to be paying attention to him. Conrad was hesitant to interrupt him.

"Hey, Bradical, hows it hanging?" He asked, smiling at him.

Brad got nervous, and he put his book down hesitantly. "Good, Just a little lonely," he quietly responded, awkwardly chuckling.

"You need some company?"

Brad blushed in surprise, "sure," he smiled, shoving his book off to the side.

Conrad sat down and started talking, getting little responses out of Brad. But getting anything out of Brad was enough for him. Brad didn't notice, but he was smiling the entire time. Conrad noticed. He thought it was cute. Conrad had to admit, he was smiling just as big. As the two of them talked more, Brad started to catch feeling even more.

Brad never really talked to people, because his shyness and anxiety would always get in the way. But now that he was actually talking to someone, even if he was barely saying anything, he realized how nice it was just talking to somebody, especially somebody so funny and crazy.

Conrad hoped he wasn't annoying the poor guy. He knew he could be irritating and a handful sometimes, and he knew that was probably why Julia always told him to behave when she was going to leave him alone. He didn't want to annoy one of the cutest guys he'd ever seen in his life.

"So, uh, off topic but I don't think you're brother likes me very much," Conrad said, the grin on his face slightly fading.

"How come?" Brad asked, confused about why he assumed that. Alex wasn't a hateful guy. Besides, Brad thought Conrad was cool. How could anyone hate him?

"I dunno, it's just the way he looks at me and talks to me."

Brad wasn't sure what to say, not only was he nervous, but he just didn't know how to respond. Conrad didn't look necessarily upset, just a little confused. So, that somewhat helped Brad figure out what to say.

"I don't know either," Brad laughed. His nervousness got to him.

The two sat there in silence for a second. Brad was scared he did something wrong and possibly ruined his chances with Conrad. While Conrad was thinking about something else to say. There wasn't anything else.

He stood up and smirked at Brad. Although he didn't necessarily want to leave Brad alone. He did anyways. After he went back up. Brad wondered if he should join them up there, sure it was only to hang out with Conrad. It's not like Fliss had any interest in either of them. Brad knew that he probably had no chance with Conrad. He still felt that he should try getting to know him better. After thinking some more he decided to go up there and actually socialize. He went upstairs. Conrad brought Brad over to help him with the grill, for some bonding time.
