The hand on his shoulder squeezed and pulled him closer. Will let himself fall against Beverly’s side. She didn’t hesitate to wrap him in her arms, running a hand soothingly through his curls.
“Will, he didn’t confirm he was going to be here,” she reasoned. “He said he would do his best to make it, but maybe something came up.”
“It doesn’t matter anyway,” the profiler muttered, defeated. “Shouldn’t have gotten my hopes up at all. It’s not like he even knows how I feel… or that there’s any chance of him feeling the same.”
