Work Text:
The WoL was a busy guy but not so busy he couldn't take some time to help out a friend. Or at least thats what he said at the school when G'raha said he was sorry for keeping him from his plans. "What plans?" he said and shrugged shifting on his feet as G'raha worried over being a bother. The air is touched with the scent of cinnamon and cloves. The air smells like a kitchen. "I'm not doing anything. I always keep my promises, though, so we should go see that sightseeing place you wanted to see sometime."
"You are a true friend!" G'raha said. His voice is like a mix of dry leaves stirring and a summer breeze. It tickles your ear and thrums with life. The words he speaks feel like a tingle against your skin as he blinks up at you. "I shall be indebted to you for years to come!"
"So what plans do you have right now?" he asked, trying to hide his nervousness. Not wanting to be too nosy or get too personal or anything.
The man paused, considering his next words very carefully. The chatter around them is a wave of sound. It is a wave crashing on the shore of an island. Its the sound of a harbor at night, full of life, with the gentle lapping of the ocean on stones.
"I was going to go around and congratulate those who served with me. They helped save the world and…well, it would be nice to see them. Its been almost a year. I'd like to go see what they've done since then. Its my duty to, at least. But I don't want to miss you. How about you stop by the inn sometime later? Well all be there." G'raha's tone turned hopeful.
"Sure," the WoL replied eager to go now.
"Really?"
"Yes, I said so didn't I?"
"True, you did." G'rahas smile was so wide it threatened to split his head in half. "I'm going to start making plans right away. Ill make sure to have a proper feast! Ill see you later."
The catman started through the crowd and then turned back. "Oh, one more thing. How would you like to be the official witness to my apologize?"
Embarrassed the WoL's face scrunched up in discomfort. "Why would I be the witness to that?"
"To make sure I do it!" G'raha said.
"Uh, you do know that there are other ways of making sure you do something, right?"
"I know but—"
"For one example, you could just not show up and not apologize," he said.
"Yes, but that would be terrible of me," G'raha said.
"Your right," he said. "It would be."
"But I want to do a proper thing."
The WoL sighed. "Fine. I'll do it."
"Good," G'raha said with a huge grin. "Your the best! I should get going. Later!"
"Later," he replied and watched G'raha walk away. He never even asked what they were doing. That was the nice thing about G'raha. He was like him in that regard. Neither of them cared about the future. They would worry about it when it came. G'raha would probably make it a party, as well. Good food was a reason to celebrate in itself. Those guys deserved to have a great party for what they did too. But…
He really did need to get going. The sightseeing trip was something G'raha had talked about ever since the battle. It was supposed to be a treat for the cat man who had helped him so much over the years and was less like a brother to him than something...more? Like another half of WoL that he didn't know was missing until he met G'raha.
The WoL had never been a man to believe in soulmates but here he was looking forward to the party G'raha was planning and not just for the food! But the fact that he got to spend time with the redhaired catboi too! Not to mention however much time they were going to have together afterwards on their trip which he really should give some thought to or they'd end up going somewhere lame. Like Limsa Lominsa or something like that.
Somewhere nice and romantic so that maybe he could finally get the courage to say something about his feelings. Maybe find out if they were as one sided as he was afraid they were. Blushing at the thought of what might happen and feeling a little sick too, WoL still couldn't help smiling as he followed after G'raha's tiny frame.
"G'raha, wait for me." The redhaired catboy looked over his shoulder, his smile wide and eyes bright with mirth and joy. The gait of the small creature was the most graceful thing He'd ever seen. WoL tried to smile back, despite feeling his heart pounding in his chest. He managed a pouting frown at the catlings antics as WoL jogged after the small redheaded cat-man.
He really was a lucky man and if god was willing he could get even more lucky.
