Practicing (S)elf Control

Summary:

Stephen and Tony come across a weird snow globe in his office one day. It’s ultimately harmless, but the two can’t help themselves.

Day 2 of the 12 Days of Strange
Prompt: Elf

Work Text:

“You have to be kidding me.”

“We both have them, it’s not like I would do this to myself.”

It had been an accident, really, on both of their parts. Stephen and Tony had been making jokes about a snow globe that had magically appeared in his office. Magically as in: it did appear via magic compared to someone unknown dropping it off (not that Friday would let them but that’s another story).

Anyways.

They had been standing there making fun of the snow globe because there was a really weird looking elf in it that they couldn’t not make fun of. The pointing and laughing had started when Tony accidentally knocked it off the desk and they both reached for it.

Good news was that they caught it together and it didn’t break.

Bad news is that they both ended up with pointy elf ears since apparently that’s what the snow globe did.

“I can’t wear a hat forever, my hair looks too good for that!”

“You are short enough to pull off the elf look so you don’t have to hide them.”

“How dare you come into my office and insult me like this-“

“We’re married, you idiot.”

They took the snow globe back to the Sanctum, careful not to shake it because who knew what else would happen to them. After it was secured in the relic room, the two genius idiots stood staring at it once more. At least until Wong found them.

The Stark-Strange’s stared at Wong.

Wong stared at the Stark-Strange’s.

“So Stephen, what do your elf eyes see?”

“Get out.”

Their ears didn’t go back to normal until about the middle of January. It also led to a prank war where Stephen or Tony would hide the snow globe in places they would unknowingly shake it.

They both received elf costumes from Wong next Christmas.
