I just need one chance

Summary:

One moment could change an entire relationship.

Butters was well aware of the fact, and hoped that he could change he and his best friends relationship to something more, though difficulties keep coming in between him and that goal.

Notes:

Hi! I've recently become infatuated with this ship and decided I might aswell give a go at writing a fanfiction for them.

Chapter Text

One moment could change an entire relationship.

Butters hoped that moment would be today.

Well...tommorow technically, he had spent so much time baking that he had practically forgotten that he would have to wait another day until he could give his gift to his long-time crush.

Butters pulled the baking tray out from the oven, appreciating his handiwork by slowly peeling the macaron shells off the baking paper and appreciating the smoothness of the shell, they looked absolutely perfect; much better than the masses he had made before as practice.

The Blonde boy began to fill the macaron shells with split dyed buttercream, where one half was a baby blue colour to match the shells (and himself) while the other was pure white, flavoured like blueberries to match a certain someone's favourite fruit.

Upon completing the task, he set himself to carefully placing the 24 handmade treats into yet another baby blue box, placed in such a careful manner that Butters began to worry how exactly he was supposed to take it to school with him, especially considering how he walked with his crush to school...he would figure it out later. Before finishing up, butters took a final glance at his hard, hard work and took a picture on his phone to remember the day by. His 4 years of pining would be over after another nights sleep, how exiting! He carefully took the white ribbon off of the table and gently wrapped it around the box, doing his best to create as voluptuous a bow as possible on the top, so that when presented the gift would hopefully give a great impression.

Finally, Butters cleared up and put his box into the fridge. It was quite late at this point and he knew he would need all the rest he could get in preparation for tommorow so he rushed to put on his dotted pajamas and brush his teeth, before finally laying down in his bed and staring at the glow-in-the-dark stars on his ceiling.

The boy drifted off, exited for the day ahead.

The next day...

Butters woke up, eyes wide with realisation that today, yes, actually today this time, was the day.

He would confess to his feelings! If all went well, he could end up with a boyfriend by the end of the day! How amazing was that?

The blue eyed boy leaped out of bed to put on his best blue sweater alongside dark green pants, before rushing off to have his breakfast and going on his morning routine.

Then, a sudden quiet yet noticeable knock alerted him that someone was at the door, and poor Butters heart practically skipped a beat.

He opened the door, and there he was.

Kenny.

Kenny, his closest friend, the person he trusted more than anyone....his crush.

"Dude, we need to hurry up if you don't want to be late." the other blonde smirked, "And we all know how much you hate being late." Kenny finished, he knew just how to tease Butters, though in a much more light hearted sense than someone else they knew.

Butters didn't take any of the words said in, he just stared at the marvel that was the boy in front of him, his fluffy hair that looked so perfect even under his giant hood, his long, blonde eyelashes that surrounded the deep blue eyes that twinkled in the cold morning light, the freckles that had formed over the summer that though faded, added another layer to the boys charm. Butters was mesmerised, though he quickly snapped out of it.

"Ah-erm, I'll be out in a minute! Just gonna' get my stuff!" Butters sputtered before he closed the door and pressed his back against it, hands rushing to his blushing face, eyes wide as he calmed himself down. No matter how many times he saw that face, he could never get used to how good his friend looked.

The blonde rushed to grab his bag and carefully placed the box inside, steadying it on top of his books so it would sit right side up without chance of toppling on its side. He then put on his coat and gloves before rushing outside, bag in hand, ready for the day ahead.

Once outside, Kenny and the boy began the walk towards their school, however after some conversation a ping noise could be heard from Kennys phone, he pulled it out of his pocket and paused. He stared at Butters, a look of shock and fear plastering his face. "Butters... we don't have a test tommorow, right? Kyle's lying right?" Kenny pushed out, a forced smile on his face made to try and hide how screwed he knew he was. "Did'ntcha know? We were told a real long time ago..." the boy replied, also followed with a look of shock, though leaning more towards the pity kind in fear of yet another detention on Kennys part.

"Ah shit..." Kenny exclaimed, his job made him lose track of time occasionally but never had caused him to completely forget about a test before. "I'm so screwed, what am I supposed to remember in a day?" He asked, starting to walk again as he tried to think of a way he could solve the issue, covering his face with his hands in an attempt to think better.

Butters chuckled slightly, it was quite typical of Kenny to forget things, especially when it came to school, though he felt bad that his grades might suffer because of it...then, after a moment of realisation an idea came to mind, "Kenny, I could help, your afternoon's free in'nit? I could tutor ya'!" He came out with, a big smile covering his face as he looked towards his friend for approval, who also responded with a big smile. "Would you really do that? Butters...you're a god!" Kenny spilled through relieved laughter, pulling Butters towards himself to ruffle his hair in amusement, causing a subtle blush to again form over the other boys face.

Once Butters managed to pulled himself away, a familiar face appeared from behind them, he looked them up and down before sighing and looking towards Kenny. "What are you so happy about?" He questioned, grimacing towards Butters ruffled hair as a sign that something was going on. The other boy simply responded by grinning, crossing his arms and proudly stating "I forgot about the test."

"..."

"Of course you did."

Stan couldn't help but make a face towards the disillusioned blonde, sure this test wasn't anything too special but he could at least have bothered to remember it. "Anyways...Butters, is your hair alright?" Stan asked, trying to sort out the shorter boys hair as they walked, it really bothered him to see someone whos outfit was so proper in such a state, he could only look towards Kenny with a glare in annoyance, knowing he had something to do with it. "Yeah, Kenny just got real exited 'bout me helping him" the other responded, shooting a happy yet understanding smile towards Stan as he did his best to make his hair look normal again.

Butters knew about Stans perfectionist tendencies, while it wasn't anything too extravagent he had to admit it was nice to see someone so set on making someone the best it could be, maybe that had been why they became such good friends over the years. Sure, Stan may have been a bit rude when they were younger, but over time they came to appreciate the other, especially when it came to their shared interests.

Finally, they arrived at school, and after a quick "Bye Bye" Butters set off to his locker and then towards his class, after a few lessons, it would be time for his confession.
