Day 2 prompt: Gregor
I changed up the prompt a bit and did picnic in the snow instead of sledding.

Work Text:

“Just a little farther, mesh’la,” Gregor says, tugging you along by your hand.

“You said that five minutes ago,” you sigh. “When you said you wanted to go for a walk in the forest through the snow, I didn’t think you meant a ten mile hike.”

Gregor snorted. “It hasn’t been that far.”

“Tell that to my frozen toes.”

“I can help with that.”

Gregor pulls you close, then sweeps you up into his arms and you yelp at the unexpected move.

“I’ve got ya,” he says, holding you close.

“I know.” You slide your arms around his neck and kiss the tip of his nose. “Just warn me, next time.”

“You got it, babe,” Gregor says, grinning.

He carries you for a few minutes, then the trees open up to a small clearing. You see a large, bright blanket spread over the snow and a couple of portable food chests nearby.

“Well, now, what can this be?” Gregor sets you on your feet on the edge of the blanket. “Looks like someone just left this food here. I guess we’re going to have to eat it.”

You notice a couple of sets of footprints leading into the trees from the opposite direction that you and Gregor arrived. “You had your friends set this up for us?”

“Maybe,” he allows. “Or maybe I just arrived earlier and set it up myself.” He looks toward the direction the footprints lead. “Anyway, if my friends were still hanging about, they’d be wise to leave before I decided to put them on inventory duty for the next two rotations.”

Two troopers step out from behind the trees they were hiding behind, laughing.

“Roger that, captain,” one of the men says.

“Have fun you two,” the other man says.

“Kriffing CTs,” Gregor says fondly.

You laugh and sit down. “It was nice of Trapper and Wooley to set this up for us.”

“They’re good kids,” Gregor says. He walks to one of the food chests and opens it. “There’s soup and sandwiches. And fruit for dessert.” He lifts out two thermoses. “Caf or hot chocolate.”

“Ooh, hot chocolate, please,” you say.

He pours you a mug and you sip on it while he pulls out the rest of the food. When it’s all laid out close at hand, Gregor sits next to you with a mug of caf.

You grab a sandwich that’s packed with veggies and drizzled with a creamy sauce. “This looks amazing. Did you make it.” You take a bite and close your eyes as the flavors explode across your tongue. “Oh, stars, that’s good!”

“I didn’t make it,” Gregor says. “But now I’m wishing I had.”

You offer him a bite of your sandwich. “Maybe we can figure it out together.”

Gregor grabs an insulated bowl filled with soup that gives off a heady aroma. He fills a spoon and lifts it to your lips. “I’d like that.”

The two of you work your way through the lovely meal, feeding each other bites. You try to work out the different flavors and components of each dish so you can replicate it later. After the empty dishes and leftovers are put away, Gregor lays down on the blanket and pulls you down next to him. He wraps both of you up in another blanket and you rest your head on his chest.

“This was lovely,” you say. “Thank you.”

“Glad you enjoyed it, mesh’la.” Gregor rests his chin on the top of your head. “Are you free next weekend?”

“I am. What did you have in mind?”

“I thought we could go sledding.”
