Chapter 1: The Start of Something New?

Chapter Text

  Abused! Suga POV

The school day ends, and I begin to frantically store my items in my backpack, already dreading the idea of returning home. At this time of the day, I always tend to question what deity or gods I must have pissed off to go through this sort of torment. I bid goodbye to Professor Ukai to head out of the building and on my way home. After 15 minutes of anxiously walking to hell, I took a moment to pause and look around the parking lot. I noticed the small red car that was parked near my house. The image sent chills down my spine for whatever is to be expected when I enter the house. I continued my way to the doorstep and pulled out my keys, inserting them into the lock. Before I twisted open the door, I closed my eyes and began to pray to the stars.

"Oh, mighty stars, please grant my wish of leaving this hell of a place and going somewhere far much better than the state I'm currently in... Set my soul free from my misery."

Tears began rolling down my face as I finished pleading to the sky in hopes of a miracle happening, which I doubt... Oh well, it's time to head inside I suppose. The first thing I smell is the harsh liquor surrounding the house, making me scrunch my face in disgust. The moment I took a step forward, my dad appeared with a bottle of Shochu in his hand with a disgruntled look on his face. Oh boy, here it comes...

"Where have you been?" He asked me.

"Nowhere, dad. I just came back from school... is something wrong?"

When I finished answering his question, he looked at me up and down with distaste and said,

"I wish you didn't come so soon."

Well, that was quite the blow.

"Oh... sorry, I can come back later if that's what you want da-"

Before I was able to finish what I wanted to say, my father threw the glass bottle at me and walked away to watch his TV shows in the living room. I was shocked. Hell, even TERRIFIED that my dad would attempt to harm me in that way, he's only ever used his bare fists or belt before. I silently went to the kitchen to grab the broom and dustpan to clean away the mess he left. My vision was blurred from the tears that were threatening to drip down my face. But I would only allow myself to weep once I was in my bedroom. I finished cleaning the shards of glass at the doorway, threw them away in the disposal bin, and went into my bedroom down the hallway in a hurried manner. Once I quietly shut the door of my room and took my sneakers and backpack off to place them in the corner of my bedroom. I fell to my knees and began to pour the tears that have been begging to be released the moment I entered this dumb household. I felt so miserable. Why? Just... Why was I suffering so much? How did all go wrong once my mother passed away? I pick myself up from the floor and made my way to my bed in sobs. I lay there in my bed, staring at the ceiling as I drown in my dismay. Soon enough, I fell asleep from the exhaustion of today.

"WHAT IN THE TARNATION!"

The people on the street walk began to look at me as if I was a freak from yelling out loud. I had awoken from the extra brightness of the sun and the heavy sound of traffic, which wasn't what shocked me the most. What shocked me the most was the feeling of a hard surface I felt underneath my body and seeing the light blue sky instead of a ceiling when I cracked my eyes open. I jumped up to my feet and scanned around my area. I checked if my phone and wallet were in my pocket. It was right there, and I sighed in relief to have something with me at least. The first thought that came to mind after becoming fully aware of my surroundings was Damn... no wonder my dad seemed a lot nicer last night since this was his whole plan, I guess. My stomach growled in hunger, cutting my train of thought. Man, I should've eaten something last night before falling asleep. I noticed a McDonald's across the street and began my journey to assess where I'm at by stopping by there. The place is a lot less busy than I expected it to be due to the traffic on the road. I skimmed through the menu and made my way to the cashier once I had my order ready.

“Hello! Welcome to McDonald’s, what can I get for you?”

As I reached for my wallet to have my money ready to pay, the voice that spoke to me sounded so familiar and sweet, I just HAVE to peek up and see who it is and-

Lord have mercy on me because I just looked at the most angelic thing I've ever seen in my whole life. I hope my eyes were not bulging out because I was mesmerized by the beauty of the cashier. The beauty mark on his left cheek, the soft-looking gray hair he has, and the warm chocolate color of his eye made my legs jelly. Wait a minute... WHY IS THAT ME?

"...Hello sir? Are you okay?" The identical man asked me in a worried tone.

"Oh yes! Yes... I want a Sausage Biscuit with Egg Meal, please."

"Okay, sir! That'll be $4.39!" he said to me with a beautiful smile on his face.

I handed him the money. He took it from my hand, feeling his touch for a split second until he went to put the money in the cash register. I took note of his name that was on his name tag, and...

Oh my gosh.

This man has the same name as me. Did he even notice that we look alike? Isn't he me? I'm beginning to think my dad didn't drop me off but-

Once again, I was cut from my train of thought by the person that caused this confusion.

"Sir, your order is here!" He smiled as he handed me my food.

"Thank you so much!" I grabbed my order and made my way to one of the tables to think and fuel my body.

So, I guess my dad didn't drop me off in the middle of nowhere because I don't think I'm where I lived at. I think, just maybe, I'm in an alternative universe. I know it may sound crazy, but! I've read so many books about this scenario that I can't help but think that this might be the case. A person with the exact features I have is pretty alarming to anyone who comes across this type of situation. I whipped my phone out of my pocket and tapped on the weather app. The information stated that I was still in Sendai and it was 77 degrees from the summertime. Hold on- Could this be... MY WISH BEING GRANTED?! When I was about to drop my phone and freak out even more than I was, the kind cashier with the same name as I came up to me with a coffee in his hand, and said,

"Hey, I noticed that you seemed quite stressed out and I brought you some coffee. On the house by the way." He winked.

"O-Oh! Thanks so much again, you didn't have to." I say as I sip into the freshly brewed coffee, loving the sweetness of it.

"I hope you liked the way I made you coffee because that's the way I usually do mine, haha."

This is getting too much. First, he looks like me. Second, he does his coffee the way that I love my coffee. Third and foremost, I think I like him. Is this what they call, selfcest?

"I like it, I do it this way too," I told him, smiling at the common aspect we share.

"I'm glad! Hey, I have a question-" Sugawara was cut off from his sentence when a loud noise came from the kitchen and yelled out,

"SUGAWARA KOUSHI, IF YOU DON'T DRAG YOURSELF TO WORK RIGHT THIS INSTANCE, I'M GONNA COME OVER THERE TO GET YOU."

The voice sounded very familiar but was quite loud since it alarmed everyone in the fast-food restaurant.

"Okay, okay! Calm down Daichi. Well, I have to go busy myself now. Enjoy!" He waved goodbye and turned around from his position to walk towards the kitchen. I grabbed onto his without realizing it and took it back, although he immediately turned around again to face me.

"Is something wrong?"

"N-No! Um... I wanted to know if I could talk to you after you're done working...?" I hesitantly asked, hoping to not be rejected.

"Oh!! Of course. However, I might come out a bit late and I wouldn't want to keep you waiting in here, so do you mind if I give you my number?"

"Yes...! That would be nice-" For the billionth time today, someone had to cut me off of something. The Daichi person was calling out for Sugawara's name again to hurry.

"I think I should head out now before I get into more trouble hehe... talk to you later!"

"Okay, later," I waved back at Sugawara as he waved goodbye to scurry back into his spot as a cashier.

Well, that just confirmed a thing or two for me. One was that Sugawara was a lot more social than me, I wouldn't be surprised if he had friends. I don't even have friends. Two, he is so kind, oh my goodness. He did tell me he would finish his job in a couple of hours, so I might as well kill some time. I got up from my table, cleaned up the wrappers, and disposed of them from my tray. I looked back to see Sugawara looking at me while I left, which left me feeling like I had butterflies in my stomach.  I felt the fresh breeze of wind hit my face and left the place with a smile on my face, not knowing what was to come because of my decisions.
