Apex or Shu

Summary:

"Do you love me more than Apex?" Shu asked, seemingly casually.
"Eh.....?!" Aster's eyes widened in confusion and his mind went blank for a moment.
What did he just say ......? It couldn't be Shu, could it?

Work Text:

Aster knew Shu is nice. He respected and admired his reliable senpai, he liked the fact that Shu's vibe and aura were always comfortable, calm and accommodating, and he had a cute sense of humor.

Aster enjoyed spending time with Shu, and especially enjoyed playing games with him. After all, they were both quite good at playing video games, and their gaming skills and awareness were in tune with each other, making them a pleasure to play with. Of course, since they were gamers, they had a lot of things in common.

They were like brothers and friends, and their relationship was just more than that of mere senpai and kohai.

Aster liked Shu a lot. Of course he liked Shu, who was patient and gentle and almost never got angry.

But Aster also would not flirt with Shu, or joked too much. Shu was such a pure and harmless reliable brother, it felt like a crime to say something nasty to him.

"I wuv u" was just a joke that Aster used to say casually.

So when Aster was concentrating on one Apex game after another, he didn't even notice what Shu said.

At that time, Shu was working behind him, but at some point he came over.

"When are you going to play Valorant with me?" Shu said, bending down slightly and approaching Aster.

Shu's strong hands on the back of Aster's chair, his eyes sweeping over the computer screen, but more focused on Aster's face. The sorcerer leaned forward, his hair sliding unintentional over Aster's shoulder, sending a shiver down Aster's spine.

Aster stiffened for a moment and lost the match. He sighed back, "Anytime, Shu. I told you, I'll always play Valorant with you, as long as you invite me."

"Oh, I can play Apex with you too, but not too much." Shu squinted his eyes and smiled.

"Yayyy! Love you~" Aster responded happily, and turned his head back to the next match.

Aster thought that was the end of the conversation, but he didn't know that Shu, after hearing the words "love you", tilted his head and thought for a moment.

Then, Shu, seemingly and casually, unexpectedly asked, "Do you love me more than Apex legends?"

"Eh......?" Aster was surprised and made a small confused sound, his mind went blank for a moment.

It was Shu who was talking to him ......? It can't be Shu, but there are only two of them in this room.

Was Shu......flirting with him? Must been a joke, otherwise Shu wouldn't say this......It felt so weird and overwhelmed.

Aster did not believe that Shu was serious in saying this. It's probably just a joke, although it seemed a little strange compared to Shu's usual style.

Well, Aster's addiction to Apex might be so great that Shu would use it as a joke.

So Aster ignored his cheeks, which felt hot for some reason, and slowly stretched his fingers, pretending to focus on Apex. He calmly replied in a sweet voice, "It's not what it looks like, I love you more than Apex I swear~"

Aster's soft voice is deliberately pampering, making the whole situation a so-called 'explanation is just cover-up'.

Shu looked at the screen without words, that Aster killed two enemies while answering.

"Well ...... is it?" Shu had to raise his eyebrows, showing a look of 'go on, keep pretending'.

Shu didn't know why he said that. It's like something just came out of his mouth without even thinking about it.

He should be able to understand that Aster spent more time on Apex than on him, and that even in the same place, Aster's attention was rarely on him.

He shouldn't have... felt a little unpleasant right?

After that, Aster continued to play Apex in silence, while Shu leaned behind him and watched quietly. The only sound left in the room was the sound of the game.

Both of them started to feel a little uneasy, like they were a little too close to each other, the space was too small, the air was a little dry, and the room temperature was a little too high.

But anyway, Aster and Shu each ignored some of the strange feelings and just wanted to stay here and get ready to play the game together later.

Yeah, they're just friends who like to stay together and play games as a team. There was absolutely nothing special about it.

Notes:

Thanks for reading<3

As you can see this work is inspired by the twitter conversation between Shu and Aster. They totally flirted. Yes, since then Shuster was living in my mind rent free.
