It had snowed overnight, Coburg’s first of the season.
In the morning, Harriet wasted no time in dragging Ernst outside, barely stopping long enough to change out of their nightclothes.
Although Ernst had grumbled about being out of bed so early, he couldn’t stay irritated for long. He was too happy to see Harriet happy.
“You look like Snow White,” he chuckled, and the comparison was apt. Her fair skin and white coat harmonised with the landscape, making the contrast to her dark hair and rosy lips all the more stark.
She laughed, frisking towards him to press their foreheads together, resting her arms on his shoulders.
“A perfect fit for a prince, then.”
“Ja.”
A moment later, they’d pulled each other into a kiss.
It was snowing again when they broke apart, albeit very lightly.
“You have snowflakes in your hair,” Ernst remarked, reaching up to brush some away.
