“Woaahh! Seph, you’ve gotta see this!”
Sephiroth can’t even find the time to ask what ‘this’ is as Zack has already thrown open the front door of the inn and dashed outside. With a collected sigh, Sephiroth closes his light reading and sets it on the table in front of his chair, glancing over his shoulder. He frowns faintly, Zack could have at least shut the door behind him. It’s raining after all-he’s going to get the lobby of the inn soaked like that.
“Seeeeph c’mooon!” Zack’s distant voice rushes over the faint breeze and gentle pattering of rain.
With all of his might, Sephiroth restrains the urge to roll his eyes, but it is so, so hard to do and he finds them panning off to the side as though looking at an invisible camera instead. But, he pursues, boots clopping off the hardwood floor.
“Fair, what is so urgent that you leave the door wide-”
Sephiroth slows, stops, once outside. It’s strange. It’s raining, dotting the ground two shades darker like a watercolor canvas, but yet-the sun is out. Dappled dark clouds scatter across the evening sky, but the parts of the sky not covered by those sunset-tinted cotton balls blaze brightly like gentle fire. Rays of faint sunlight beam down, spotlights upon the earth, lighting up precarious patches that they so choose.
“It’s a sunshower!” Zack’s voice burns warmer than the dappled sunlight and more refreshing than the coy raindrops skittering around them.
And when Zack turns, Sephiroth’s breath dares to hitch. The dappled sunlight casts him into a gentle spotlight as the rain falls around him. The sunlight bounces off his eyes, sparkling like lapis lazulis. Little rays of sunshine gleam off the rain that clings to his hair and tickles his cheeks, cuddling for warmth in his uniform.
“Bet’cha never seen a sight like this before, huh?” Zack smiles ivory and the haze of the rain casts a halo glow around his head.
“No… I haven’t.” Sephiroth warmly hums, eyes never leaving that energetic form of black and blue.
