She has the bathroom door locked and Makima’s legs spread on the sink, her tongue shoved between her thighs, when fingers curl in her hair and the devil says, “Three guesses.”
Quanxi pauses, coming up for air. “What?”
“Three guesses,” Makima is unfazed by all of her hard work below the belt, her breaths even and her cheeks lacking color, “for my real name. You get three guesses.”
“And if I’m wrong all three times?”
Her nails dig into Quanxi’s scalp. “You become my dog. I can’t stand to leave a stray out on the street.”
