Chapter Text
Yoshida sure did have a skill for finding himself in the most irritable and annoying situations.
He was currently situated on a couch in the Hayakawa home. Why you may ask? Well, Denji had approached him one day in class, it was weird considering they’d never spoken before, but he humored him anyway.
He asked Yoshida to come over to his house that weekend (for seemingly no reason). And to quote Denji he said, “It's gonna be a totally epic weekend I can promise that!”
Yoshida found the proposal interesting and followed along, he would soon come to find out that this situation was everything BUT interesting, instead, it was just unpaid babysitting.
After being brought into Denji’s house he was told that his older brother (Aki) and younger sister (Power) were going on a trip. With those two gone it left Denji and his other younger sister, Nayuta, home alone.
Considering how Denji had a hard time keeping his own self alive he had no idea how he would keep another person alive, a toddler at that! So of course he used his super pro max lying skills to rope in anyone who looked like they wouldn’t light a house on fire to come keep them alive for the weekend.
And that's how Yoshida was picked for the job.
Back to the matter at hand, Yoshida now had to deal with a five-year-old smarter than her brother and a 16-year-old who couldn’t even spell “sixteen”.
Usually in a scenario like this Yoshida would just leave, not giving it a second thought, but seeing Denji struggle with opening a package of food reminded him of a cat failing to unwrap itself out of yarn.
Or maybe Yoshida just thought Denji was as cute as a cat.
Despite it being a rather bothersome situation he decided he would help Denji out for now. With that Yoshida freed himself from the chair and made his way to the kitchen
Yoshida looked at the food proudly. Usually, this would've been a simple feat but considering the fact he had a 5-year-old poking him every second asking “if it was done yet” and a 16-year-old who kept slamming his utensils on the table impatiently, this seemed pretty big.
Yoshida sighed and walked to the table with 2 plates, both plates consisting of sushi and a side of assorted vegetables. He would've added another side had they had more ingredients but it just wasn’t possible with what was there.
He went back to the kitchen to take off his apron and bring his own plate to the table.
Yoshida settled himself at the table with Nayuta and Denji. He ate silently getting lost between his thoughts of nothingness forgetting where he was for a brief moment, but those thoughts were interrupted once Nayuta slammed her plate on the table to gain his attention.
He was surprised at first because, he’s used to typically eating in his own home with the silence that never seemed to end, and Nayuta’s plate was completely empty and he had only handed her the plate five minutes ago.
“Your food is good. I want more.” She looked up at Yoshida with her eyes barely visible within her eyelids, considering how far up she had to look to see Yoshida.
Denji nodded his head rapidly in agreement with his younger sister, “Yeah dude this is like the.. best food ever! Aki’s food is always good but woah yours is super ultra good!” Denji lifted his plate for Yoshida to refill.
Yoshida tilted his head before letting a smile creep onto his face. Despite his original sentiments this was turning out to be quite the interesting evening.
Yoshida got up and grabbed the plates of both Nayuta and Denji to get them seconds— and just like the first plate they managed to finish it in less than five minutes.
He’d never had someone enjoy his food so thoroughly before, he could get used to it though, very quickly.
After Denji and Nayuta devoured multiple plates of Yoshida’s food in record time which should not be possible for humans he searched around Denji’s house for some rubber gloves. After locating the gloves he started cleaning the dishes, he didn’t wish to get on the bad side of any of the Hayakawa family— not due to fear but just due to not wanting to have bad blood with them.
Yoshida only managed to get through one dish before Denji came slamming into his hips whilst chasing after, Nayuta, who had one of Aki’s anime figures in her hand
“Sorry, uhh Yasunari!” He yelled back at him.
Yoshida couldn’t even finish cleaning because he was in such shock that Denji had invited him over to his house without even knowing his name. Did he simply not care enough to know his name or was it just pure stupidity? As he thought more into it Yoshida started to realize the absurdity of the whole situation he was in. Not only has Yoshida let himself get dragged into a situation he also went along with it. Was he ok?
After what seemed like hours of chasing, cleaning, and more chasing he had managed to get Nayuta and Denji to settle down. Nayuta was unsurprisingly the easier out of the two to calm down. Yoshida offered her 600 yen to shut up and lay down and she did. In hindsight, he most likely shouldn’t bribe children but if it works it works. Who was he to complain?
Yoshida sighed, today was unplanned. There were two things he realized today. One) He could and would not get used to this. Two) He’s found himself saying “usually” more around these two. His life up until this very moment was planned out to the very T and now he felt like his whole way of life had shattered.
Yoshida tried to stretch out but remembered the younger boy next to him. He couldn’t even fathom how Power and Denji managed to sleep in here at the same time.
When the time was right Yoshida would find suitable payback from Denji somehow. For now, laying in this way too small futon with Denji was enough.
