It had snowed. The snow had covered the ground everywhere, and so had the freezing temperatures. And as you slowly made your way to the Avengers Tower, you mentally scolded yourself for not listening to forecasts - for not taking a winter jacket with you. The snow crackled under your shoes, and you tried to inspect the path before you so you wouldn’t slip - and at the same time, you clutched your thin jacket tighter around you so it would give you the slightest amount of warmth.
And as you finally made it to the Tower and saw your boyfriend Bucky sitting in the living room watching the TV, you plopped down beside him.
“Fortunately you’re so warm…” you muttered as you leaned into Bucky. He shifted.
“You’re so cold.” he chuckled and you smiled, knowing he didn’t say it in a bad way.
“Mmh, that’s why I like your warmth.” you grinned and Bucky held you a bit tighter. “Remember when we met?”
Silence ensued, and Bucky loosened his grip on you. You had met Bucky when he was about to kill you as a Winter Soldier but you hadn’t thought of that. You wanted to slap yourself as you slowly sat up, looking at Bucky apologetically. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to remind you of that. I… I meant the moment you came to your senses again.”
“I know.” he muttered but you saw it in his eyes - he had flashbacks again of the people he had mercilessly killed as mindless and brainwashed Winter Soldier.
“I’m sorry.” you mumbled, but Bucky just shook his head and took your hand in his own, even though he didn’t look at you at that moment.
“You didn’t cause this. You saved me from it, and we can’t keep this discussion away completely. I couldn’t be happier you’re here with me - my world was black before you came into it.”
You sighed, before you gave Bucky’s hand a little squeeze.
“And I’ll always be here with you.”
