A green curtain snapped shut while Regulus wanted to unsee what he just saw, confusion wracking his young brain.
“Whatever is the matter, Black?” Evan asked, a smirk spreading across his face.
“Nothing,” Regulus squeaked out, turning his head to look at the other boy.
The smirk fell from Evan ’s face. “Nothing? You’re not acting like it’s nothing.” He walked over. “Whatever is,” Evans said, snapping the green curtain to Regulus’ poster bed open. “Barty?”
“Surprise?”
Regulus kept his head turned, lifting his finger to point, trying to say something, only to feel the heat spread across his face. He could see the rest of his dorm mates staring, absolutely confused like he was.
“Definitely,” Evans growled, having regained his composure. “And not a pleasant one. How did you get in here, and where are your clothes, Crouch?”
“Aren’t you going to enjoy your Christmas present, Regulus?” Barty asked.
“My what?” Regulus turned his head, completely confused, which unfortunately resulted in him catching a glimpse again of something now burned into his skull, as were so many other things. Mentally, he started compartmentalizing where to file this one away so it wouldn’t pop up at the most inconvenient moment. “I don’t get it.”
“You don’t get it?” Barty said.
“Stop pouting, Crouch, and put your clothes on. Though that does explain the bow you’ve placed over your privates and the seductive pose,” Evan said. “You do realize everything you’re doing is going right over Black’s head?”
“Well, I could spell it out,” Barty said.
“My bed,” Regulus said, pointing at Barty, who he’d discovered just a few minutes before posing on his bed completely naked, with a rather large Christmas bow being the only thing covering his manhood. He didn’t dare turn to look at Barty as he pointed, but already the rest of the dorm was snickering at his current predicament.
“You absolutely will not!” Evans said, snapping the curtains closed. He turned his head to look at Regulus and then said. “Sleep in my bed tonight, Regulus.”
Regulus turned his head, still confused. “What?”
“Hey!” Barty called out, popping his head out of the curtains. “That wasn’t the plan!”
Regulus turned his head away, the corner of his mouth twitching. “Could you please put some clothes on? I’m not enjoying your prank, Crouch.”
“It’s not,” Barty started to say.
“Not another word, lest I let Slughorn know you sneaked in here along with,” Evans suddenly smirked. “The less than savory details.”
“Oh! Please don’t!” Regulus said. “If this gets back to maman, she’ll have a fit!”
Evans stared, then reached out and ruffled the top of Regulus ’ head, towering above him as did everybody in their year. “Don’t worry, cousin. I won’t let this get back to the family.”
“Hey!” Barty said, still sticking his head out. “I’m the one who’s blood-related to Reggie!”
“All the more reason for you not to pull this crap!” Evans hissed. “Bloody Merlin. I don’t know what you were thinking, but I still want to know how you bloody got in here.”
“Oh, come on. All the passwords you come up with are related to being a Pureblood,” Barty said, rolling his eyes. “Among other things.”
“Get out!” Evans stated, pointing to the door.
Barty lifted an eyebrow. “Yes, well, I don’t think you want me leaving….”
“Get your clothes on, and get out! Don’t bother Regulus like this again, Barty! Else I’ll tell your mother.”
“You…,” Barty disappeared, letting out a few choice curse words.
“And you. Go to bed. Don’t worry about changing out of your robes,” Evans said, to which Regulus opened his mouth to protest. “Not while that pervert is still in the room.”
Regulus complied, his brother ’s voice whispering in the back of his head that he was too compliant for his own good. He lay there for a while before Evan joined him. “What are you,” Then he sat up, only to be pulled back down. “Rosier.”
“Don’t. You and I both know you won’t be able to sleep otherwise after the stunt Barty pulled,” Rosier said. “I’ll make sure to leave a note for the House Elves to give your sheets an extra scrubbing.”
“Why?”
Evan opened one eye before reaching out a hand to ruffle the top of his head. “Don’t you worry about it, Regulus? Barty was just being his usual stupid self.
