Paradis Space Academy. The most prestigious school for people wanting to join the Paradis Space Force, the branch of the Paradis Military that's dedicated to space exploration. Eren had wanted to go there since he was a child. His father was a medical officer that served on a Survey Ship that went to explore at the borders of known space. Eren wanted to follow in his father's footsteps, not as a doctor but as a pilot. He wants to be one of the few people to discover a new planet.
What he didn't want was to present as an omega and be disqualified from the Pilot Program at the Paradis Space Academy, but that's exactly what happened. Omegas have much more choices available to them now than historically, but there are still quite a few professions that are barred from them. The military being one of them, and space exploration being another. The two things that Eren had his heart set on as a child.
Eren thought about his friends enviously, they all presented as either alphas or betas, and all of them could apply to the Space Academy if they wished, though only Armin applied to their science program.
Eren thought sadly about his diminished prospects. There are programs for omegas at the Space Academy, just not in any areas that he's interested in. Eren thought about the various ways of trying to disguise him omega status and apply anyway, but none of the methods are long term solutions. Also, the screening process for the Space Academy and any military related jobs and programs are very thorough, the chances of successfully fooling them is extremely low.
Eren refreshed the website for what it felt like the millionth time and suddenly spied something he hadn't seen before: an experimental program that's open to omegas. He quickly read through the description, something about an experimental prototype weapon that can be most effectively operated by omegas. Surprisingly, it does not ask for any additional qualifications besides the courses and programs required to get into the Academy.
This must be a miracle! Eren thought as he hastily applied. A way for omegas to get into the Space Academy. After finishing sending in his application, Eren was about to call Armin when he received a call from him.
"Eren!" Armin's excited voice came from the speakers, "I just saw a new program at the Paradise Space Academy that allowed omegas to apply, in fact, they prefer it!"
"I know, I already applied!" Eren exclaimed into the phone, "I can't believe this, it's a miracle!"
After a lot of excited back and forth, Eren said bye to Armin, "I can't wait to see you there!" Armin replied before hanging up.
For the first time since presenting as an omega, Eren felt like things are finally looking up. His grades and extracurriculars should be enough to get him into the regular programs at the Space Academy and the new program didn't ask for anything else. Now all he has to do is wait.
