Work Text:
Gregory was giggling in Freddy’s arms, and Freddy had never felt happier.
It was a moment of peace in the otherwise terrible night. Gregory, despite his insistence that he was not tired, had trembling legs that collapsed underneath him. The panic Freddy originally felt for the boy fading as he realized he was only exhausted, and he picked him up and carried him to a small closet behind a fountain, hidden from any cameras.
“I’m fine, Freddy! Let me go!” the boy squirmed in his grasp and his fist lightly hit Freddy’s nose.
Honk!
Gregory immediately stopped squirming and looked at Freddy’s face instead.
“Your nose honked.”
Freddy crossed his eyes as he looked at it.
“So it did.”
Hesitantly, Gregory yet again lightly pressed it.
Honk!
The boy dissolved into a fit of giggles. Freddy didn’t really understand how he found it so funny. Perhaps it was the exhaustion.
“Do you find my nose funny, Gregory?”
His laughter redoubled, and he booped Freddy’s nose again. He tried to mimic the noise himself, and it only resulted in more giggles and snorts.
They were being quite loud, but Freddy couldn’t find himself to care.
Gregory was so happy, if only for a moment. He hardly grinned, and perhaps only chortled once this whole night, but now he could hardly contain himself, eyes crinkled shut and smile undaunted.
This is how he should always look, and Freddy wished this moment could last forever.
So, he pressed his nose lightly to Gregory’s forehead in affection, and relished in the boy’s revived giggles as his nose honked once again.
