Cuphead was really regretting not filling Elder Kettle in on the situation.
Now, he and Chalice were rushing through the city to find Mugsy on their own.
Chalice was in the process of going ghost and looking through buildings, any buildings their sister could be held in.
So far, she hadn’t found either Mugsy or Ludwig.
Until going into a large, seemingly abandoned building.
Chalice rushed out of there and back to Cuphead.
“We gotta go, I found her!” she said.
…
Mugsy was terrified.
She had been forced out by Ludwig in front of this very large crowd, and now she felt frozen to the spot, unable to move or speak.
If she got over this stage fright, what would she say?
Exactly what Ludwig wanted?
“Say it,” she could hear him hiss from offstage. “Say it!”
No, she decided.
This was her chance to expose him and maybe even get out and she wouldn’t waste it.
Mugsy closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
“Ludwig kidnapped me and brought me here to lie to you all and say that I’m not a girl. But just because he’s stuck in his ways, it does not mean I have to play by his rules.”
She opened her eyes to look Ludwig right in his as she made her final statement.
“My name is Mugsy, and I am a trans girl!” she declared.
The crowd cheered and applauded.
Ludwig cut the rope that held the piano right above the stage and it dropped.
….
“NO!” Cuphead and Chalice screamed.
They had arrived too late, making it through the door in time to watch a piano fall on their sister and go through the stage.
Ludwig laughed from backstage.
“I’M GONNA KILL YOU!” Cuphead screamed, running madly towards him.
He may not have stopped this guy from taking his sister or crushing her (and that was too painful to think about) but he could stop her from hurting her more (if she was still alive).
But as Cuphead was about to dash across the remains of the stage, he ended up coming to a complete stop when he saw who was there.
The dust had cleared, revealing someone who was still in one piece.
“M-Mugsy?” He didn’t think it was real at first, his little sister was meant to be badly injured (don’t think of what else she could be) under a piano.
But she hugged him, and Cuphead is so relieved it’s actually his baby sister safe and finally found that he doesn’t question it.
He just hugs her.
“Mugsy!” Chalice cries, and then it’s a group hug as she comes in to hug her sister.
“Sorry we were late rescuing you,” Cuphead said. “How come the piano didn’t crush you?”
“I jumped to the side before it could, Ludwig underestimated how fast I am,” Mugsy grinned.
“That’s our sister! Now let’s get you home,” Chalice said.
The trio left, all three safe from harm.
Ludwig would have tried to give chase, but he was a little busy.
A little busy being arrested.
There had been undercover police in the crowd, with many warrants for the musician’s arrest.
He was put in handcuffs and taken straight to prison.
(A certain Miss Cyclops was waiting, of course.
She had heard of someone hurting the sweet little mug she had helped, and that just wouldn’t do)
