Work Text:
It was earlier than expected when you entered your shared flat. Today was the Christmas party of the company you worked at and you had actually intended to stay at least until midnight. The clock on the hallway announcing the time as 9:21pm, so you weren't surprised for not being greeted by your room mate Felix.
You got out of you jacket, gloves and shoes to pull on your ballerinas. The warmth of your flat contrasting the cold from outside and you shivered. Going to the kitchen you make yourself a nice warm cup of tea. A few minutes later, your cup was filled and you make your way into your living room.
There, only the lights of the Christmas's decorations you and Felix had put up illuminate the space. Taking a seat on the couch you watch the snowflakes dance and swirl on their way down.
The silence has such a strong hold on you that you do not notice your room mate standing in the doorway and watching your unmoving form. Slowly, he walks toward you and sits down besides you. Felix’s voice is quiet as he speaks: "Not good?"
You lean further back into the couch as you remember the evening.
The moment you arrived at the hall, you had an unnerving feeling. Normally, you do not have a problem with lots of people, however, being there alone and not knowing any of these people made your heart fall. You knew your colleagues would all come later, as they still had to work. You stepped into the hall and quickly found a table for yourself. The sheer mass of people was quickly overwhelming you as the noise seemed to get even louder with every passing minute.
Once the buffet was officially opened, you realised early that you could not eat any of the dishes prepared because there was always one ingredient you were allergic against. In times like these, you really hated your own body.
The time dragged on as the people got their food.
You thought it would get better once your colleagues arrived, however, it just got worse. Due to your paid time off, you couldn't contribute anything to their conversations and it made you feel left out, even more than before. Your eyes teared up as you stood up, resolved to getting home as soon as possible.
Your voice breaks with unsheed tears as you answer: "It was so loud. There were so many unknown people. Everyone was talking and it was so overwhelming. I just had to leave. And now, I feel so drained."
Felix wrapps his arms around tour shivering form. You fall into his embrace and lay your head on his chest listening to his heartbeat. You stay like this for a while letting his calm breathing and his heartbeat lull you to sleep.
Once you fell asleep, Felix kisses your head and whispers: "I am proud of you."
