I needed that. Him.
A sign of security that he was in fact still here, and I didn’t fuck things up so much that he had no option but to pull away. That cold distance washed over me in a disgusting way, and it felt worse than watching someone's life fade from in front of me. But yet here he was, gear piled at the foot of my cot- he was the one to drag me back here. He was the one who patched me up and waited until I awoke. He was the one who stayed first.
Wordlessly he put a fist around my heart, and closed it tight until every emotion I had locked away spilled out from under me.
“Konig.” I choked out, drawing him impossibly closer to me.
“I’m here, little Maus.”
He pressed his mouth against the top of my head in a gentle kiss, and I hated when he pulled away. I wanted to crawl inside the safe cavern of his chest and never leave.
