“Pearl?”
The Inkling vaguely registered someone whisper shouting to her. Something in the back of her mind told her that she should get up to see who it was but it was quickly stamped down when she realized just how cold it was. Ignoring anything else, she turned over and pulled the comforter over her head.
“Pearl!” the voice repeated a bit louder, this time opting to shake her a bit. “Something’s outside n’ I don't know what it is!”
That got her attention, more alert now she realized that the voice was coming from a very distressed and regressed Marina.
“What?” She nearly shouted, causing Marina to flinch back a bit, “Sorry ‘Rina, didn’t mean to scare you more then y’already are but there shouldn’t be anything we don’t know about outside.” There was a reason she paid for a good security system, after all. Nothing she didn’t know about should be on her property.
Especially something that ‘Rina can’t identify Pearl thought to herself. Marina may be a bit behind on the world outside Octo Canyon but she'd picked up on most everything fairly quickly, so the fact that she had no clue on what something was. Well that was just concerning, even when she was regressed she tended to have a good grip on quickly recognizing the world around her.
“But it’s right there Pearlie.” Marina was on the brink of tears, desperate for Pearl to help with the problem all too big for her to solve at the moment. “Look! It's over everything.” She pointed at the bedroom’s floor length window that overlooked the mansion's garden.
The concern she felt was quickly inked over by confusion, over everything? The only thing different from before she fell asleep was that it was snowing, but that couldn't be it. Could it?
“Hey, ‘Rina?” She turned her attention back to the Octoling who had buried herself against Pearl's side, “You talkin’ about the white stuff falling outside?” she asked.
It took a moment but she eventually felt Marina nod her head into the side of her stomach and it took everything in her not to laugh at this revelation. Out of every horrible possibility her mind had sped through in the last few minutes of what could be wrong, Marina being scared to tears over snow was the last thing she expected.
“It's just snow ‘Rina.” It was impossible to hide the amusement in her voice which earned her a confused and slightly offended look from the little, causing the laughter she'd been holding back to finally burst free.
“Pearl! Stop laughing, it's not funny!” Marina pushed away from her to pout at the fact that she wasn't being taken seriously.
Pearl stopped laughing to catch her breath, “Sorry ‘Rina but it kind of is, there ain't any danger to it. We can have snowball fights and make snow creatures.” her own excitement grew as she explained it to Marina, it wasn't every day that you got to see someone experience the snow for the first time. “We'll have to get you some fresh snow gear but it'll be so much fun!”
