Summary:

[Kagihira Week 2022] Day 6 - *Marriage* / Game Night

Kagiura's day felt quite long this time around so he drifted to sleep faster than anticipated.

Then he woke up, at least he thought he woke up.

"Are you ready for tomorrow?" It was Hirano's sweet voice. He'd recognize it anywhere. But what he didn't know was where they were sitting.

It was an unfamiliar room, but everything decorating the space around them were Hirano and Kagiura's belongings.

Kagiura searched his eyes for answers and tilted his head, puzzled, "Tomorrow?"

He squeaked at the hand ruffling his hair and the beautiful sound of Hirano's laugh, "It's our wedding, silly. Haven't you been talking about it all week?"

"Wedding.."

(A story where Kagiura's family has a history of having prophetic soulmate dreams. And his happens to be marrying his roommate.)

Chapter Text

A couple days prior to moving into his high school dorms, Kagiura's parents had sat him down and explained what a soulmate dream was.

Of course, Kagiura knew at this point. His classmates had shared stories of people in their families getting them, or they themselves having them.
But his parents explained to him that it was a little different.

In Kagiura's family, the dreams were much more vivid. As if you feel even a brush on your shoulder and it'll linger faintly the next morning.

Not only that, but it could happen multiple times, rather than the one time thing that others would have.

At the time he didn't think much of it, since they also mentioned that their soulmate dreams came long after meeting eachother. And it was when both sides started to become conscious of their feelings.

Kagiura knew that he had to keep an open mind. It could be anyone. But a few months into meeting Hirano Taiga, he wished and wished that it'd be him.

His blonde roommate was unaware of the distress he was in. Even after confessing properly in their room after a trip from the nurse's office, he didn't dare utter about his family's history with soulmate dreams.

Maybe it was out of fear that Hirano already had his. But from their conversations, he assured him he had no interested in romance and dating all his life.

There was nothing seemingly special about the morning of that day, the day it happened. That's what Kagiura thought, at least.

It started off normal, with Hirano lightly shaking him awake. And Kagiura looking up with a sleepy smile.

".. Good morning."

Hirano's cheeks looked a little pink, but he just assumed it was because he was tired.

What really began to stick out to him though, was the brief encounter they had in the hallway. The feeling of his hand resting on his back, which secured its place there longer than usual.

"You did a great job with basketball." The familiar words that left his lips sounded softer and more affectionate than he was used to from him.

Firstly, Kagiura didn't even know he was watching. Hirano was doing laps with his class outside. Sure the windows in the buildings were easy to see into, but that would require a lot of looking.

'Don't get your hopes up..' He'd tell himself, but the twist in his heart told him to keep hoping anyway.

•💍•

The sun set into the evening and they'd been making an attempt to study together since their schedules happened to line up that time of day.

Usually, it was Kagiura dozing off, but Hirano's head began to sway from side to side with his eyes squinting at the textbook pages.

It wasn't until a click of a pencil was heard behind him and Kagiura turned away from his desk.

Hirano was knocked out, using his books as a pillow and curling up a little in his chair.

'So cute..' Kagiura rolled his chair over and smiled at his sleeping face. "I'll let you sleep for a bit." He whispered and before he could stop himself, he brushed his hair out of his face.

The next moment was when the unexpected turn of events began its course.

Hirano sleepily grabbed Kagi's left hand and held it up to his lips, to a point where they were pressed against it.

"H-Hirano-san..?" Kagiura could only whisper and stare at the thief who stole his entire arm, in genuine disbelief at this situation. Hirano was shifting in his sleep a lot. Normally he didn't move this much during cat naps.

His lips found its way to his ring finger and lightly kissed the spot. Kagiura wasn't sure but sleepy Hirano seemed to be kissing it with intention. 'Was he dreaming of kissing someone?'

"Mh.." His brows furrowed a bit, but not in the angry way. It was in the 'I'm trying not to smile' kinda way. And just like that, the corner of his mouth lifted.

'Heh.. I can read him pretty well these days.' Kagiura thought proudly to himself before squeaking in surprise at feeling another kiss on his left hand.

"Why do you keep doing thatttt~?" He whined out loud to himself, in a hushed voice of course.

"..Kagi-kun."

The quiet whisper of his name made Kagiura freeze.

He was still asleep.

The heat in his cheeks rose at the sight of Hirano sleep talking his name. But at this point, he hadn't put any pieces together.

Kagiura sighed deeply and dropped his head. 'My heart can't take it.' He thought to himself and jolted seconds later after seeing the blonde shift at the corner of his gaze.

"Kagi... mmh?" Hirano's crystal blue eyes immediately found their way to his roommate's face after awakening from his slumber. He watched him with an unreadable expression for a while.

There was a silence that filled the room. It wasn't uncomfortable, nor was it pleasant. Just.. confusion.

"I thought you were wearing white a second ago."

"Huh?"

The geniune confusion in his voice took him aback. They'd been studying together for at least an hour in their room.. he assumed that Hirano would notice he was wearing a black hoodie.

"No.. I was.. wearing this the whole time. Are you okay, Hirano-san?" He looked at him worried and placed a hand on his forehead.

Maybe he needed more sleep after all.

Kagiura waited for an answer but Hirano kept staring at him and his cheeks looked really pink.. it was weird.

Not only that but his left hand was still being held, a little tighter than before if anything.

"What day is it again?"

"...Thursday."

"No.. not that." He yawned a bit into his free hand and then scanned around their surroundings. "Oh. Okay, right."

"Are you sure you don't need me to take you to the nurse's office?" Kagiura leaned closer to him now, which Hirano didn't shy away from.

He just looked up at him and smiled lovingly, ruffling his hair like he usually did. "I'm perfectly fine. Don't worry that cute head of yours."

Kagiura pouted and leaned into his touch. "Still, you should go to sleep early."

"Maybe you're right." He trailed his hand down onto his cheek, holding it gently with a smug smile tugging his lips. "Kagi-kun, you look really tired too. Maybe we should call it a night and wake up early tomorrow."

The touch on Kagiura's face overwhelmed him and he couldn't refuse his request. "Okay." He breathed out and willed himself to look away. 'He's making it so hard to not tug him foward and kiss him.'

After changing into more comfortable clothes, they set their alarms and curled up onto their beds.

But what Kagi didn't know, was that Hirano wasn't going to sleep anytime soon. He was putting on a brave face, but when his back met his mattress and he stared up at the ceiling, it was impossible to NOT cover his blushing red face.

When his sleepiness wore off, he had to seperate his dream from reality. 'I've never had a dream so clear.. Is that what a soulm-' He waved away his thoughts but he was almost completely certain the answer to that questions was yes.

Every single detail felt real. Too real.

"Wedding.." Kagiura smiled happily as he whispered out the words. "I'm marrying you tomorrow." He couldn't hold in his excitement and almost leaped at him. "O-Oh is it okay if I hug you?"

Hirano looked at him in amusement and leaned forward, whispering as if they had to worry about Hanzawa overhearing (but they didn't.)

"Aki-kun... we've done a lot more than hugging before." He snickered and poked his cheek, "Why are you asking for permission?"

Kagiura looked at Hirano as if he grew a second head and stared at him in a flustered shock. "We have?"

His brain screamed at him, 'He said my first name he said my first name he said my first name he said my first name AND THEN USED A NICKNAME.'

"..Did you wake up from one of your soulmate dreams again? Is that why you're acting weird?" He slid closer to him and held both of his hands. "Or maybe I'm overthinking it and you're nervous for tomorrow."

'If I told him about my dreams..  then this is the future.'

Kagiura looked around the space they were in again and smiled in relief. "This is our apartment."

"Mhm."

"And you're..." He trailed off, so flustered that he couldn't speak the words.

"I'm your boyfriend.. well fiance." Hirano reveled in the blissful look on his face and kissed his nose lightly. "God, you're so cute.."

Kagiura's skin flared at the feeling of his lips on his skin and curled up into a ball on their couch.

"Hirano-san.." He pouted and then peeked up at him.

Now that he was really looking.. Hirano looked a bit older. His features were sharper and his blue eyes were as striking as ever.

"You're so hot." The words slipped out before Kagiura could stop himself and he hurriedly covered his mouth with both of his hands.

"UuUhhh.. hahah forget I said that!"

Hirano was just as guilty as hiding. He lifted his own wrist to his face to conceal the growing blush on his cheeks and cleared his throat. "...S-So did you want to grab something to eat?"

If he was bold enough, he would've said that kisses would suffice. But he's not sure if his heart could take the response.

"That sounds great."

By the time they had stepped through their front door, there was a bright light. A foreign warm feeling wrapped around him and he opened his eyes to see an entirely different location.

A special venue.. not just any.
It was for their wedding day.

The feeling in the air was a lot different though. It wasn't as interactive as the last place he was in.

People's mouths were moving but he couldn't hear a thing. It was as if the real deal was supposed to be a surprise and this was just a glimpse into what was to come.

There were a few familiar faces. Like Niibashi standing close by, trying to act tough even if he looked like he was going to burst into tears any minute.

His family too, seated close to the front and watching intently with smiles on their faces.

Hirano's friends, which was a mix of some he recognized and some he didn't. Specifically a shorter dark haired boy next to Sasaki, who was crying waterfalls and enthusiastically filming the whole thing.

He looked familiar but he wasn't sure where he knew him from.

Kagiura's eyes drifted to the side and if it weren't so silent, he could've sworn there would be crickets chirping.

How in the world was Hanzawa officiating their wedding? Was that even possible?

The familiar close eyed smile directed at him bore into his head. 'Does he know something I don't?'

A shiver went down Kagiura's spine and he shook it off, figuring there were more important things to look for. Like his lovely Hirano.

Just when he thought that, a light touch slipped its way into the palm of his hand.

His partner seemed to magically poof in front of him just to comfort him and hold his hand, cause he could've sworn he wasn't there before.

"Aki-kun."

There it was again. It was the second time Kagiura heard his first name from his lips, but he felt like he wanted to hear it for the rest of their lives.

There were questioning thoughts, like how could he hear Hirano but not anyone else?
But they were all put to the side.

The sight of Hirano dressed in all white and smiling at him with that look in his eyes, filled with so much love..

It was overwhelming. The happiness he felt. He hadn't even realized he was crying until Hirano comfortingly wiped his face, which was hot with tears, and helped him to steady his breathing.

"I'm here. It's okay." He whispered and soothingly rubbed circles on his hand.

The rest of the dream he felt like he was floating, like the vision was getting weaker and the sound started to fade again. But the image of Hirano furrowing his brows and holding back his tears while they looked at eachother so sweetly, would be something he couldn't forget.

Even if he didn't hear everything, he was excited to reach the future where he could immerse himself in every moment, where this dream would manifest into reality.

Where, the vow that Kagiura memorized by heart, would be repeated from Hirano's lips.

•💍•

Kagiura shot up from his bed and sat up straight, desperately trying to catch his breath and gripping at the blanket covering him.

'Where am I now?' He looked around the room to see that they were in their high school dorm bedroom again and sighed softly. 'Did I wake up then? For real?'

Then it hit him,
'. . . That was a soulmate dream.. Hirano-san is my soulmate.'

"Kagi-kun."

Kagiura didn't even realize that Hirano had been standing right beside his bed with a concerned look in his eyes. "God, you scared the shit out of me." He pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. "You sounded like you were sniffling so I walked over to check.. and you were crying in your sleep."

"O-Oh yeah I guess I was." He wiped his face and smiled weakly, "Sorry for worrying you. It was nothing bad, just happy tears."

Hirano looked at him with, again, an unreadable expression. He took his hands out of his pockets and sat on the edge of the bed. "I need you to tell me honestly. What.. did you dream about?"

"Uhm.." He hesitated a bit and thought carefully,

'If I tell him about the fact that it was a soulmate dream, will he feel obligated to be with me? I want him to geniunely love me too.. not just because we're soulmates.'

Kagiura nervously fidgeted with his fingers. "Well.. I told you that I'm in love with you, right? So it's no surprise that I want to marry you." He flushed in embarrassment and hid his head. "I may have had a silly dream about our wedding.. I'm just emotional and started to cry is all." It was most of the truth.

Hirano's eyes were wide and he became so still, almost like a statue.

A few seconds flew by.

No response.
But curiosity peaked his interest. Kagiura felt his heartbeat quicken after his eyes fixated on his roommate's rosy cheeks.

"Why are you blushing?" He tried to lighten the mood and poked his arm with a playful pout, "Are you liking the idea?~"

It was obvious that Hirano was deep in thought about SOMETHING, but what he didn't expect was the feeling of him taking the initiative to hold both of his hands.
"This is going to sound really specific but I just want to check something."

"O..kay."

"Do you remember who was officiating our wedding? Like did you see their face?"

Kagiura stifled back a laugh but he couldn't help himself, "Y-Yeah but it felt really funny and shocking at the same time."

The way he reacted to the question clearly made Hirano more interested and he slid even closer to him on the bed. "Who was it?"

"Hanzawa-senpai." Kagiura blinked at his quick change in expression, watching the blonde cover his red face with their joined hands.

"Hirano-san.. the way you're reacting makes it seem like you had the same dream." He joked, since 'that'd be too good to be true', right?

"I did."

"H-HUH?"

"Well.. you'll have to tell me exactly what happened in yours but I saw that too. You started crying a lot before the vows so that'd explain what happened earlier."

"...You know what kind of dream this is, right?"

"My only guess is it's a soulmate dream. If it isn't, then I don't know what is."

He seemed completely okay with it and that threw Kagi for a loop.

"I thought you would be upset.. I mean, I know in the dream you'd eventually grow to love me. But right now, you don't return my feelings."

Hirano tipped his chin up with a finger so they'd meet eyes again, "That's not true."

". . ."

Despite the silence, he continued, "I just didn't admit it because I was scared of my feelings. I thought I couldn't like you in that way because I've never been interested in guys. But I realized that didn't matter."

"I just love you because you're you, Kagi-kun." The emotion in his voice cut through the air and all Kagiura could do was breathlessly stare at him.

"So I'm not upset about the dream.. I actually really wanted to confess to you sometime soon anyways. This helped me out." He ducked his head in embarrassment. "My feelings are just a lot stronger now."

Kagiura couldn't control the smile on his face, "I love you too. I love you so much..!"

"Heh.. I know that, silly." Hirano took the initiative for physical contact (again) and wrapped his arms around him.

Letting out a happy noise in approval, Kagi nuzzled his face onto his shoulder and giggled. "There's something else too."

"Hmm?"

"My family has prophetic soulmate dreams, that can happen more than once by the way, and they're really vivid. Since we shared one, I don't know what that means.. but even now, I can still feel my nose tingling from where you kissed me."

Hirano nodded in understanding. "Maybe I saw the same as you because you're my soulmate and you have really strong power." He ran his fingers through his hair, making the taller boy melt in his hold.

"Maybe..." He smiled into his shirt, "Or our love is just too strong."

"You're so damn cheesy."

"Hehe.. but anyways, did you see anything else in the wedding? I saw some dark haired shorter guy with a video camera, crying? It's weird because I don't think I've interacted with him before but his features were so clear."

"Oh that's Miyano. Sasaki's boyfriend."

"Boyfriend!???"

"Did I forget to mention that earlier?"

"Yeah but- nevermind. Tell me later. ..Do you remember us on the couch before the wedding?"

Hirano began to suspiciously stutter and averted his eyes. "U-Uh depends, what happened in yours?"

"Nothing really, we were just talking. What did you see, hmmm?" Kagiura was more than curious now and continuously poked his side. "Tell meee."

"Mm.. it was in the night."

Kagi tilted his head in confusion and got deep in thought. 'The night? It could've been the same day but maybe a different time?'

"Okay.. what happened?"

"We uhm.." He cleared his throat. "Danced around the living room and then kissed.. a lot. On the couch."

"O-Oh.. you felt everything too? It was close to reality?"

"Yeah."

That was the final blow. Kagiura slumped his weight onto Hirano and brought him down along with him. He let out a whine and hid his face under his chin. "You're telling me, I missed out on that dream!?"

"Kagi-kun! What are you doing? You giant puppy.." He laughed a little at how exaggerated his reaction was and pet his hair.
"You know I'm right here, right? You could've just asked."

".....Are you teasing me?" Kagiura squinted in suspicion, but behind his cool demeanor, he was screaming on the inside.

"I'm serious. But I haven't done anything like this before, except.. in the dream. I'm not gonna be anywhere as experienced as you were."

"As I was? ..So you really did kiss me. I can't believe I'm jealous of myself...."

"Hah?" Hirano couldn't help but topple over in laughter. "I didn't actually kiss anyone. It was still a dream. Besides, it's you I kissed."

"T-Then, do you wanna kiss me for real?" Kagiura's body was still draped over him at the time, but he pushed himself up by his forearms to hover on top of him.

"Now..?" Hirano looked at him in a daze, turning into a red strawberry for what it seems like the millionth time that day.

"Aahh I'm sorry, I don't wanna pressure y.."

Kagiura trailed off when he felt a soft touch on his cheeks. "Hirano-san...?"

"I'm not being pressured." He assured him, "Just.. if it's okay with you, we can start off slow."

Kagiura nodded fervently and pressed his nose against his. "Don't worry.. even if our teeth get knocked together, I'd still have butterflies!!!"

Hirano smiled in amusement at the cheesy comment. "Are you sure about that? I think it'd be painful."

"Thennn I could kiss it better after. Easy solution."

"I think you just want an excuse to kiss me more than once."

"What's so wrong with that~?" He wiggled playfully.

"Kagi-kun?"

"Yes?"

Hirano gripped the collar of his shirt and tilted his head, pressing a soft kiss onto Kagi's lips. It only lasted a couple of seconds before he pulled back a bit with flushed cheeks. "There.."

Despite the confidence he carried himself with on a regular basis, he felt shy when Kagiura was in a romantic mood, especially when he was practically pinning him onto his bed.

He could barely talk about this sort of topic with friends. Taking the first step to kiss him was the most his heart could take. But that was good enough for Kagi, whose eyes were glazed over in adoration after the few seconds of heaven he received. "I love you so much..."

By the sound of those words, Hirano visibly relaxed, "I love you too. I know it wasn't that great but..-"

"Shh.." Kagiura peppered little kisses starting on top of his forehead and then down to his nose, eliciting a chuckle from the blonde. "Your kiss made me really happy."

Hirano closed his eyes with a content smile on his face. "Y-You're tickling me."

"Okay okay.. then I won't tickle you." Kagiura's eyes twinkled in mischief before pressing a chaste kiss on the corner of his lip.

Hirano opened his eyes and frowned up at him at the teasing. "Oi.. what are you planning?"

"Nothing.. mmmwah." Kagiura pecked his cupid's bow, right above his lips.

"Kagi-kun..." He clucked his tongue in annoyance. "Are you going to kiss me or not?"

"Dependsss. Is this one of your ways of being needy with me~?"

"..So that's what this was about."

"Hehe." Before he could piss off Hirano any more, Kagiura took both of his hands and placed them onto his head. "Here. If you're struggling with where to put your hands.. you like to pet my hair, right?"

Hirano nodded slowly, "Yeah."

The tension in the air shifted again.

Kagiura leaned down to gently press his lips against his, pacing it slower and sweeter this time.

He lightly traced his thumb over the blue piercing on Hirano's ear, eliciting the most adorable noise he'd ever heard from the blonde.

"Mmhehe so cute.." Kagiura mumbled against the kiss, chortling a bit when he felt a light smack on his arm.

Hirano could tell that Kagi was staggering in his position, propping himself up by the elbows the entire time, so he patted his head and urged him to relax.

Kagiura complied, flopping himself on top of him (as gently as possible to avoid squishing him), and hummed against his lips.

The feeling of Hirano's fingers running through his locks made him melt into a puddle. All Kagi could think about was how many times a day he would allow them to kiss, because he felt himself getting addicted to the softness of his lips.

A tiny noise sounded outside their door and they hurriedly pulled away from the kiss, directing their attention towards the front.

"Is that Hanzawa doing those late night monitor things again?" Kagiura whispered and the boy under him responded with a shrug.

"Don't know. But we should probably stop anyways.. you need to sleep sooner so you'll complain less in the morning."

Hirano quirked his brow, almost challenging him to retort his comment, but he only puffed his cheeks like a kid.

"Fiiiine!"

Knock knock. "You two should be sleeping. It's past curfew..." The eerie voice travelled through the crack of the door. Definitely Hanzawa.

They probably should've kept up with the whispering.

"Yeah yeah, we hear you! Goodnight!" Hirano called out and then shifted to get up, pushing Kagi to sit up with him. "Okay I'm going to my be..."

He felt a tug on his shirt and looked down to see Kagiura holding the fabric between his fingers. "Can you stay? I don't know if I'll have another dream again and I want you to be with me."

The pleading look in his eyes softened his heart and he gave in immediately.

"Okay, but sleeping only."

"W-What are you implying!? I'm not going to do anything weird just because you're in my bed!"

Another knock from Hanzawa, the mood killer of the night, "Last warning!~"

The timing was definitely intentional. Hirano was about to lose it if this happened a third time.

"WE GET IT."
