Chapter Text

“This is so unfair!” Ayano thought as she sat next to Taro Yamada. She had gotten rid of most of her rivals peacefully, gained the trust and respect of many, and even became friends with Taro. So why was it that the fuzzy feeling was fading. She did everything right. Even ignored some of her mother’s “advice” for a less conspicuous method. Even the people she eliminated in less than peaceful ways were predators. She got Mido Rana arrested for misconduct and Muja Kina had an accident slipping and busting her head open.

She even resisted some of her most intrusive thoughts in hopes of being better for senpai. But it seems that she loved the chase more than she actually liked Taro. She was angry that she wasted her time and energy. Not to even mention how, because of always texting Info-chan, her eyes had degraded so much she had to walk around with bulky glasses. The only good thing that came out of it was that she made some friends.

She was friends, if not acquaintances, with most of her past rivals. Some even insist that they spend a lot of time with her like Osana. And since a lot of her ex-rivals were club leaders she always finds herself working to help one club or another. But the second worst thing was that even though she showed she was rarely a violent person, Megami was still on her ass.

Ayano was snapped back to reality with a girl literally snapping her fingers in her face. “Hello?~” The eccentric Kizana Sunobu said as she tried to get the raveness’ attention. She practically pushed Taro off the bench they were on as she sat next to Ayano. Hugging her arm tight to her chest. “I need help with the fall festival, dear. And I just know you’ll help me right?”She said as she batted her eyelashes. Ayano looked to Taro for what to do but he just shrugged. After a moment's pause she said, “Fine.”

Kizana was basically leaping for joy. “Ok, Gym at 5:30, ok!” She said it more as a statement as she went off to prepare for whatever she had planned. Ayano signed as she realized her lunch was now spilled all over the floor and her lap. “I, uh, guess I’m gonna pay a visit to the cooking club real quick and get a new uniform. I’ll see you later Yamada-kun. Have a good day.” As she left, taro gave a sympathetic smile.

It wasn’t like the cooking club was out of the way or anything. It was literally a few feet away from where Taro and Ayano were sitting in the fountain area. She just didn’t like taking food from the cooking club, she of course didn’t know why. In reality, it was that she felt guilty for getting free food. When she entered the room she saw Amai Odayaka. Her apron and shirt were dirty with flour and other ingredients and she was writing something down on a pink post-it note.

“Hey, Amai?” Ayano said she knew that the club had a locker that had extra uniforms in case of an accident. She assumed she could kill birds with one stone instead of going to the locker rather than the clubroom.  Amai looked up from her note, flipping it over. She looked her up and down. “My goodness, what happened?” She said as she rushed over. “My friend accidentally made me spill my food and I thought I could just get a uniform here since I need to make myself a new lunch anyway.”  She said holding her skirt as if to not let any of the food still on it make a mess on the floor.

Amai went to the locker rummaging to the closet and chose a skirt she thought might fit. While Ayano was far from obese she still had a sizeable amount of meat on her bones, however most would agree that worked in her favor. Amai then returns to Ayano handing her the skirt. She went to both of the doors and closed them. Amai was momentarily confused before Ayano started to change in the room. “What are you doing?” Amai nearly yelled in embarrassment. “It’s faster if I just do it here.” Amai was tomato red and was covering her eyes. “What if someone sees?” Ayano pointed at the window. “Oh, please. These windows are foggier than a forest on halloween.”

When she was done she looked at Amai who refused to uncover her eyes even when the sound of cloth rustling stopped. “I’m done, you can stop now.” Amai pecked between her fingers to check, then put her hands down entirely when she saw she was actually done. Without a word, Amai found something to occupy herself again. Ayano, however, just started to make her another lunch.

There was an awkward silence for a bit before Ayano asked. “What was that note?” She asked to break the silence. “Oh, It was a list of the snacks I wanna try making this week.” That was a lie but she couldn’t just say, “Oh, It’s some cutey note I was gonna pair with a treat I made for you.” Little did Ayano know but most of her past rivals now have the hots for her. From her charisma to her strength, each girl saw something flattery in Ayano. For Amai that was her keen eye and observation skills. Ayano had memorized the patterns of her classmates and schedules of almost every student. She could tell you the location of any student in the school at any time of day, even if she had only ever talked to them once. Some saw this as creepy but Amai thought it was kind, especially when she’d talk to others about their problems and help them with tasks they need.

The tick of the oven clock distracted Ayano long enough for her to question her further. “Then what are you making now?” She smiled at Ayano. “Red velvet, what some?” Ayano’s favorite. “If it’s ok for me to have some, I’d love some. Please.” Amai was ecstatic. She iced it real quick before she led Ayano to the table and handed her a slice. Ayano enjoyed every bite. “Mmh” was the only thing she said as she stuffed her face. Well that and a few compliments on Amai’s baking. Amai watched her eat from the counter on the other side of the room. Fiddling with the note in her pocket. Both sitting in silence again but this time it was comforting.

At least, until the bell rang. Ayano got up and looked at the bento she just made that was still untouched and sighed. She brought the bento to Amai. “Since I didn’t get to eat what I made, you can have it. As thanks.” She said ah she gave her the bento “Gotta go, bye.” Said Ayano as she picked up the dirty skirt from earlier and ran out of the room.
