Work Text:
Leonardo was tired, exhausted. Sonic looked worried, looking at his companion with shriveled, questioning eyes, but Leonardo didn't seem to notice. His feet dragged along the Libra corridor, almost stopping many times. The short man reached the large door and opened it with a loud bang. Fortunately, no one would be there to complain.
The human had lost his ''home'' again in an untimely accident during a fight against some malicious beings, and well, the damage was not small. In addition to Leonardo, many residents lost their homes. But this wasn't the first time this had happened, and Leonardo was tired of it.
He wouldn't give up being a Libra member that easily, but still, nothing had prepared him for physical and mental exhaustion like this. His eyes stung a little, as he'd had to use it a bit wildly over the last week and his head ached as if he'd been physically hurt.
Leonardo plodded over to the sofa in the center of the large room and lay down, letting out a low but heavy sigh.
The lights of the city and the moon shone through the large pane of glass behind Klaus's desk, bringing a strong feeling of loneliness to that dark room. Sonic jumped onto the sofa and climbed over Leonardo, carelessly falling onto the soft sofa, then settling himself in the arms of the tired human, which he didn't care to complain about. The night was noisy, as usual, but the room felt quiet and inviting for sleep, especially for a tired human with nowhere else to go.
Leo thought about asking Klaus or Gilbert if he could sleep there beforehand, like he always did, but he just didn't want to be in the way anymore. And his head was just too full for anything else. His body and mind were crying out for proper rest and recovery, even if Leonardo never really went through with it. His eyes were now heavy and his body seemed to be swallowed by the soft sofa. And in a matter of seconds, the human fell asleep. A deep and deserved sleep, without dreams or nightmares.
Leo didn't know how long he'd slept, but he assumed it hadn't been long, as it was dark. However, the situation was slightly different. Klaus's fragrant and distinctive scent made Leonardo wake up a little.
- Klaus...? Leonardo called, now feeling two large hands holding him.
- Oh...hello, Leonardo. - The human felt the vibration of Klaus's voice against his chest, and he felt comfortable and sleepy again. - Why were you sleeping on the couch? You should've gone to my room. - Klaus continued in a low tone as he walked out of the room.
This would not be the first time that Klaus had said this to him, considering the countless times that Leonardo's home had been destroyed, sleeping in Libra, more specifically in Klaus' room, was nothing new, even though Leonardo was always against it. Klaus seemed to rarely sleep in his room, making Leo a little curious and worried, where did he sleep anyway?
Gilbert had already told Klaus a few times not to sleep at his desk and to simply go to sleep in his room, but Leo never knew why the man was so resistant to following that indication.
- I didn't want to bother you… again. - Leo muttered against Klaus's vest, coming out a muffled and difficult sound to hear, but the other understood perfectly.
Klaus didn't answer for a while and Leo didn't know why, but soon the silence was cut.
- Don't talk that way, you will never be a bother. Also, I barely sleep in my room, so don't worry about it. - The human wasn't sure if it was from sleep, but he felt Klaus' voice shake a little.
- Right…
And so, Klaus opened the door to his chambers after a short walk through the halls. The windows were a little open and the curtains were swaying a little in the wind. The room was dark and untouched, as usual.
The man slowly walked over to the bed and easily placed Leonardo on it. It was almost ridiculous to see Leo and Klaus next to each other, given their height and size difference. Klaus thought it was funny, and when he looked at Leo he could only think that he was a small, harmless human being, yet strong and determined. And of course, Klaus never told him directly how he felt about it.
On the other hand, Leo felt safe when he was around Klaus. Perhaps people were intimidated in some way, but Leo saw Klaus as good, kind, and concerned.
Leonardo rested his head on the pillow, not realizing the whole situation. Klaus has always been concerned about Libra's safety, and especially Leo's. But, this situation was a bit too intimate. But Leo was too tired to really worry about that right now. In fact, he was deeply grateful.
- Thank you, Klaus... good night. - Leo peeked in lightly with a smile, his All Seeing God Eyes flashing for half a second, just to catch a glimpse of Klaus being swallowed up by the darkness of the room.
- Good night, Leonardo. - Klaus whispered, but Leo had already fallen asleep. The human would never know, but Klaus stayed there for a while, standing there, just watching the serene face and small hands hugging his little companion Sonic. Until the bedroom door opened and then closed, leaving only a tired human in the room.
