Work Text:
Villains don’t get their happy endings.
Those were the words Regina had heard over and over again along the years. And she had believed them, she had lost so much and did so much harm to people. She didn’t deserve a happy ending. Whoever she ended up falling for, would be killed. Because she didn’t deserve love like that. Henry’s love was more than enough, and she was loved among the community, being crowned as a Queen, but she still held up a foolish hope that she would meet someone. One day, she would find her happily ever after.
She thought she had lost her happily ever after, because it felt like no matter how she lived, how she tried to change to have a better life, she was doomed to live the rest of her life without anyone.
You had always been there for her every step of the way, encouraging her and talking her out of her evil schemes. She hadn’t listened to you for the longest time, but when she finally began to listen, she realized how much you actually cared. How much you had always cared.
She was heartbroken, calling to you as she needed someone to listen. You came to her house immediately, listening to her ranting and keeping your hand on her back. After she had gone silent and just sniffled quietly, you reached out to hold her hand, and the moment you did, it seemed to send electric shocks through her body. Similar to Daniel’s and Robin’s, but stronger. She looked up, and saw that you had felt it too.
Then she finally realized it. It was you. It had always been you.
