Chapter Text
“Why did we have to wait for Nate?”
”Come on Hugh, Cheren isn’t going to let him go without a final check-up.”
”He’s ‘check-upped’ Nate on if he has everything for his journey eight times!”
Molly sighs as she fumbles with her Xtransciever on her wrist, “Yes, but with Team Plasma rumors of returning growing stronger, you know he won’t let Nate go out alone, let alone without everything he could need. It’s because of said rumors the league even upped the trainer age from twelve to sixteen.”
Hugh went silent after that, pulling up his his suit collar. He wore one of the top Unova male training uniforms from Elesa, a red jacket with black pants and sneakers and a simple white t-shirt underneath. He also wore a black backpack on his left shoulder with a small keychain of a Dragonite (fav Pokemon), and a poke-ball emblem side bag on the left side of his pokeball holding belt.
Meanwhile, she wore the female Unova outfit of a white and blue t-shirt with a pair of pink sneakers to match (though she added black stripes to the sneakers since the pink seem to bright). Her backpack though was in the shape of an Umbreon (her fav Pokémon ever).
Molly watched as Hugh's new starter, named Clover curled up in his basket of blue hair nudging him softly. The grass snake making himself nice and cozy making Molly giggle a little at the sight to Hugh's annoyance with a huff.
She than looks down at her starter, the otter like mon, just looking ahead at the gateway to Route One.
An Oshowatt, a shiny at that, she named Ace.
One would think being a shiny mon, popular to a fault, would of been chosen before...but there is reason no one but her has chosen him before.
He’s quiet, a serious loner from what past reports of trainers who returned him have spoken.
Not getting along with any Pokémon they caught, let alone train with, preferring to train alone at night.
She didn’t mind all that though, being a bit on the quiet side herself.
Besides, the teammate thing could change in time, and not everyone is a morning person anyway.
He at least followed her orders in her battle against Hugh.
Though she doubts it was for companionship in battle, but more he only knew tackle, tail whip, water gun, and detect. Plus, he had the shell armor ability, which was kind of useless first battle since there wasn't much of the two-power wise.
”H-Hey guys, sorry I took so long.”
Molly and Hugh turn behind to see Nate, with his alpha sized Tepig (nicknamed Buzz) walking alongside him.
Nate had another top Unova outfit for boys on, but with a blue jacket with a teal blue swimsuit underneath, white shorts, and red sneakers and headband to match. Said headband seeming to be the one thing keeping his hair in place and was also a gift from his brother. He also had a black side bag with a pokeball logo on it, and a small keychain of a Lucario (his fav).
He was a sickly kid growing up, but thankfully has fully recovered since, not that it doesn’t make his older brother Cheren, less protective of him.
Nate’s long, messy dark spiky brown hair shined in the sunlight, reflecting in his caramel brown eyes as he adjusts his pokeball belt on his waist.
Molly shakes her head and smiles at him, “It’s fine, not like we could stop Cheren if we tried, right Hugh?”
Hugh shrugs, but nods, “At least we got our pokedex and pokeballs before he did, otherwise it would probably be dark before we could head out.”
Nate chuckles softly and rubs the back of his head with a slight turn smile, “Y-Yeah, but never can be too prepared.”
With that, they left for their adventure, though Hugh took a few minutes to stop his little sister Amy from following them, whom both Nate and Molly just realized she was here.
”I’ll be fine! Plus, any Pokémon any of us catch after a full team of six will come to Cheren’s gym, and surely, you’d want to help out, no?”
Him and Molly got said offer rather than have them sent to Professor Juniper in the next town over, thanks to Cheren.
Eventually, Amy relented and went back home, leaving the three to make it out of their small city, and onto Route One with just a few steps….
And then they suddenly fall into a pit of darkness.
