Work Text:
"There he is! Mr. Lan WangJi from the IT-Development team." Yu Chien squealed in a whisper as she watched Lan WangJi stand up from his desk and walk towards them on his way to the break room.
"He's really handsome." Li Qen said giddily. "A lot of the girls from my department showed me his pictures, but it does not compare to what he looks like in person."
"Honestly, that blue is really his color." Wu Fen said.
"What are you saying?" Yu Chien said, turning to her co-worker, "Every color is Lan WangJi's color." She added in a dreamy voice.
"Shh, shh. Here he comes." Li Qen said, nudging her friend. The three of them turned towards Lan WangJi as he passed by them.
"Good morning, Mr. Lan!" the three women greeted Lan WangJi. The latter only nodded and went on his way.
"He's so cool." the three said with a sigh, not even trying to lower their voices.
Lan WangJi walked, face still impassive after hearing his office mates sighed at the sight of him. He kept his pace as he walked to the break room, nodding to other co-workers who greeted him.
"Man, it is really great to have a face as handsome as you WangJi!" Su She said the minute he stepped foot in the break room. Lan WangJi said nothing and went to the coffee machine to fill his cup.
"Don't tease him." Meng Yao chastised. "Mr. Lan must be having it tough having girls fawn over him every time he walks, talks, or even stand."
"If it is me girls fawning over at, I'll be basking in it." Su She said with a laugh. "I'll be greeting everyone back. Not like our Mr. I'm-to-handsome-to-socialize here."
"I'm here to work." Lan WangJi said, and with a nod, he left the breakroom.
"That man really thinks he's great just because he's got the looks." Su Shen said irritably.
"He's also great with his work. The new travel manager form application he launched two weeks ago got a positive response from the higher-ups." Meng Yao said, smiling.
Su She let out an angry hmmp. "Whatever. Sooner or later, the women here will realize they're fawning over a robot."
Meng Yao shook his head as he followed his co-worker out of the break room.
Lan WangJi's day progressed as usual. He worked on all his tasks while responding to co-workers who often passed by his workstation, despite it being situated on the far end of the work floor.
"Excuse me Mr. Lan" another female co-worker shyly approached his workstation.
Lan WangJi looked up from his computer screen but did not say anything.
"Hi, I'm Xin Yan from the Customer Relations Specialists department. Ah, I just need assistance with my account on the CRS portal. I can't log in on it." the woman said.
"Please fill out a request using the IT Helpdesk." Lan WangJi replied and went back to what he was doing.
"Ah, ha ha." Xin Yan said, awkwardly.
"It's our protocol, Miss Xin." Song Lan said, taking pity on the woman. "All requests need to be filed for tracking."
"Oh, okay." Xin Yan said, clearly disappointed.
"We'll work on it once we get the request." Song Lan said, smiling.
Xin Yan hovered awkwardly in front of Lan WangJi's desk for a minute. But since she failed to get the man's attention again, she left dejectedly.
"Boy, we worked so hard setting up that HelpDesk app, and they still wanted to walk to our area to ask for help." Song Lan said, amusement written on his face. "I wasted three weekends on that project."
"Mn." Lan WangJi said leaning on his chair and taking off his glasses.
"All that socialization making you tired?" Song Lan asked as he watched Lan WangJi rub his eyes.
"Mn." Lan WangJi replied, still rubbing his eyes.
"Wonder what the issue is?" Song Lan said as he refreshed the page on his computer that accesses all IT-related requests. "I hope it's not a bug on the portal."
"Probably forgot her password." Lan WangJi said.
Song Lan laughed. Lan WangJi returned to his usual sitting position, back ramrod straight, facing the advised distance from the computer monitors.
"By the way, Xingchen and I are going out after shift. You know, to celebrate the end of that project we worked on. Do you want to come?" Song Lan asked.
"No. I want to go home early." Lan WangJi replied.
"Okay. But the offer still holds if you want to come." Song Lan said before going back to his work.
At precisely six, Lan WangJi saved all his current work, closed all his windows, and shut his computer off. He put his belongings in his bag, and with a curt goodbye to Song Lan, he left his desk.
By six-fifteen, he is driving his car out of the office building.
He drove for a while, stopping at a busy shopping district. He parked his car in the designated parking spaces for customers and walked towards a bakeshop.
"WangJi!" The woman in the bakery greeted him as he approached.
"Good evening." Lan WangJi said.
"Perfect timing. We just had a new batch made. Fresh from the oven." The woman said. "A-Lin, get me a dozen of the lotus seed mooncake," she said to the young girl helping her in the store.
"Here, you eat this while A-Lin prepares your order." The woman said again, handing Lan WangJi one macaron wrapped in wax paper. Lan WangJi took the offered pastry and nodded his thanks.
"How was it? It's our new flavor, osmanthus" the woman asked as Lan WangJi took a bite of the macaron.
"Sweet." Lan WangJi said after he swallowed. "Please give me half a dozen."
"Sure thing!" the woman beamed.
Lan WangJi took his order after a few minutes and, with a curt goodbye, left the bakery. He passed by a small toy store on his way to his car. He entered the said store and, minutes later, came out holding a large paper bag. A long stuffed rabbit ear sticking out.
By seven-thirty, he's parking his car in front of a two-story house. Taking the paper bags from his shopping, he let himself in the house using the security code. As soon as he entered, he heard the blast of music coming from the kitchen. His lips curve into a small smile, his first since he left home in the morning.
He carefully removed his shoes and put them on the shoe rack. Still carrying the bags, he made a beeline toward the kitchen. For the second time, he smiled. Wei WuXian stands in front of the sink, washing dishes. Well, more like dancing as his but swings to the beat of the music. EDM, Lan WangJi mused. He must be in a good mood.
The man was as tall as Lan WangJi, but a little thinner. His hair is long, kept in a bun with a red ribbon. He's wearing a gray t-shirt and a pair of black pants that highlights his butt.
Lan WangJi put his things on the counter and silently walked towards the man on the sink.
He heard him humming to the music, looking engrossed in his task.
Wei WuXian gasped as he felt Lan WangJi's hands wrap around him.
"Wei Ying, hello!" Lan WangJi said, pressing a kiss on the man's neck.
"You're home!" Wei WuXian said, turning his head to receive Lan WangJi's kiss.
"Mn." Lan WangJi replied before kissing Wei WuXian again, this time longer.
"How was your day?" Wei WuXian asked between kissing.
"Good" Lan WangJi said, kissing Wei WuXian. "This is better."
"Mn." Wei WuXian ended the kiss himself. "This is great, but we have to eat." He said. "We'll continue this later," he added after giving Lan WangJi another smack on the lips.
"I'll start dinner later." Lan WangJi said, capturing Wei WuXian's lips again.
"You don't have to do the cooking." Wei WuXian said, avoiding Lan WangJi's lips.
"You cooked?" Lan WangJi asked, nuzzling Wei WuXian's neck.
"Do you think I'm mean?" Wei WuXian said, tilting his neck to give Lan WangJi more access. "No, I went by YanLi-jie's restaurant."
"Mn." Lan WangJi said, trailing kisses on Wei WuXian's neck. His hands trailed down to grab Wei WuXian's ass.
"Lan Zhan!" Wei WuXian whined, "How are we going to eat if you don't let me go."
"No." Lan WangJi said. "Not letting Wei Ying go!"
"Aiya Lan Zhan!" his voice ended in a gasp as Lan WangJi bit and sucked his neck.
"Lan Zhan! Food." Wei WuXian said, seeing as Lan WangJi is not planning on letting him go yet. The man stopped kissing his neck to give attention to his lips.
Wei WuXian shifted his body to face Lan WangJi. The two continued kissing until they heard footsteps.
"That'll be A-Yuan." Wei WuXian said.
"Mn." Lan WangJi said, pressing his lips on Wei WuXian's forehead. "We'll continue this before sleeping."
"Adie you're home!" a child's voice behind Lan WangJi.
Still holding Wei WuXian's hips, Lan WangJi turned towards the child.
"Mn. I'm home." Lan WangJi said with a soft smile. He let Wei WuXian go to pick up the child. "How was your day?" Lan WangJi asked the child.
"I got a star!" A-Yuan said, proudly showing the star stamped on his hands.
"Well done!" Lan WangJi said. A-Yuan grinned.
"Lan Zhan, did you buy something again?" Wei WuXian said upon seeing the bags on the counter.
"Mn. I passed by the shopping district." Lan WangJi said
"Ohh, mooncake!" Wei WuXian said, happily taking the boxes from the paper bag. "Macarons!" he exclaimed after opening the box of macarons.
"They have a new flavor." Lan WangJi replied. "Auntie gave me a sample. I think you'll like it."
"Aiya, my Lan Zhan is the best." Wei WuXian said, smiling at Lan WangJi.
"Look A-Yuan. Look what your Adie bought you!" Wei WuXian said, pulling out the stuffed toy.
"A bunny!" A-Yuan exclaimed. "Adie you bought me a bunny!'
A-Yuan hugged Lan WangJi's neck and gave him a sloppy kiss on the cheek. "Thank you! thank you!"
"You're welcome!" Lan Zhan said, kissing A-Yuan on his chubby little cheek.
A-Yuan squirmed to be put down. Lan WangJi proceeded to do so and watched his son take the stuffed bunny from Wei WuXian.
"I love it!" A-Yuan said, hugging the bunny. "I'll show them to Bichen and Suibian," A-Yuan said, darting towards the sunroom where they keep his pet bunnies.
"You're spoiling him." Wei WuXian said.
"He needs to be spoiled." Lan WangJi said, hugging Wei WuXian again. "And so does Wei Ying."
"Aiya Lan Lan Zhan!" Wei WuXian said.
"I love you!" Lan WangJi said, his golden eyes looking at Wei WuXian full of love.
Wei WuXian's lips bloomed into a wide smile "I love you, too."
